Got out to the new property with the new 572, the family and the dog (in that order ) and did some tree dropping and bucking... Had three on the ground before I realized I should be taking pictures for posterity's sake, since the first three are about where the house will be in a couple of years. Anyways, the 572 with a 32" bar made short work of the dead oaks (due to oak wilt). Still have six full trees to buck up... Got our work "cut" our for us. See what I did there? LOL
Erik B - just outside of the Wisconsin Dells. Yeah, a they made a pretty good whomp! when they hit the ground. The first one we dropped had been dead for quite a while and the top 15' or so literally exploded when it hit the ground. Pretty punky, but the bottom 20' or so was still pretty solid. The daughter thought that was pretty cool. I asked her if she wanted to cut the next one... she declined... LOL JRHAWK9 - That's facing West-Northwest... Definitely not the bluffs, maybe the tail end of Xmas mountain? buZZsaw BRAD - No, I had to quit. Was getting tired swinging that sucker around. Its a touch heavier than the 450... but it was FUN to run to be sure.
Beautiful country down by the Dells. About an hour and a half from me. We have taken our grandkids there a few times and always had fun.
I too live near the Dells...in Lake Delton area. The area is nice, but I try to stay as far away as possible from all the tourist BS. Seems every year more and more riff-raff shows up from that state just south of us.
We have been known to do an overnight with the kids but that is our limit. Good for a day trip and right back home again. The jet boats are fun if you don't mind getting soaked
