Sorry to hear the news Rottiman.

To not hear a scratch of paws when you wake, or a goofy excited pup when you return home.

Believe me, they are. The two worst times are mornings and the pronounced "quiet" in the house.......................

We've all been there at least a time or two, Rotti. Thing is we keep going back for more.
It's been 8 years that we have chosen to be dogless now-maybe even 9.
I saw this years ago and though you and Mrs. may appreciate it. Well worth 4:20 of your lives.

I am so sorry to hear this and my heart truly goes out to you and the family.

I am not ashamed to say that I cannot read Rainbow Bridge with a dry eye.

    RIP Bear

So true an all counts Dave.

I think its great that Rotti was there when Bear left, just like he was there when Bear arrived. I was there for all of my pals except the one that left suddenly-and that one was the hardest to deal with. The ones that gave me the most peace went while on my lap.

Rotti, I haven't read all the posts as I normally do but my heart goes out to you. That has to be a difficult loss. Many of us know just what you feel.

So sorry to hear, making my eyes water, something about a Rotts personality make them hard to loose.
I think about Otis Eugene everyday, miss the Rotti glued to my side, never more than a foot away from me.

Very hard to read this Rottiman. You did the right thing at the right time.
Concentrate on the great life you gave this companion and how he could have had a very different life with the wrong owner.

mine passed 7 years ago,, Dutchess, or dutchy dog,,, I still miss her.... she was so special... never was agresssive toward women or kids.. when little guy was 2 and I would call him he would run away and laugh cause dutchy would pick him up by back of his osh kosh straps and deliver him (jake) to my feet. yup the kids 2 &4 were her job. and she loved her job... she used to ride in back hatchback and watch her kids and help them finish all snacks...

So rottiman, you will always miss him but the good memories last forver

Still in our thoughts and prayers here rottiman. Things will never be the same, but hold on to those memories. Bear had the best dad he could've ever asked for.

Another acquaintance of mine lost his Rotti a couple of years back. After a while, the dust settled and he realized he really needed another friend. So he went back to the breeder where he had purchased his first Rotti. He went on the list for a new litter. His new friend is near a year old now. Really big. Thinks he is a lap dog. Things have a way of being what they are.

Very sorry for your loss. I have had to have both of my labs euthanized in the last 12 months, one a year ago due to cancer, and one last October due to, like your dog, losing control of her hind legs, not being able to move much, and being in pain all the time. I could not have asked for better labs. I had them for over 11 years from the time they were pups. They were together their whole lives and now they are buried side by side on my property. I keep their collars in my truck so they are still my "trucking buddies." I have not been able to bring myself to get a new dog yet - I still miss my labs too much. People who do not have pets do not understand the special place they hold in our hearts, especially ones that have been with us for their entire lives. You did right by your dog, even though it was difficult. I hope you can find peace during this time.
