I have an older 056 with a 36 inch bar, which is overkill for most jobs.

I am about to bring this saw to my saw guy and get it tuned and hopped up a little. I want to use it more for bucking big firewood. But the 36" bar is too big. What size bar would you recommend? I know 24"ers are pretty common, but a little longer would be nice. What says ye?

Why not get a 24, 28 & 32" bars? That way you are ready for anything.

Personally I picked a bar for bucking that with my arms extended it just cleared the ground.
I don't have to bend over as much and less chance of hitting the ground.
It wound up being a 28"

    I’ve got a 056 that I put lite lazer 24”.
No matter the size, I recommend a lite bar

    I run a 28 on my 056 super, although I think it's wearing a 32 at the moment.

28" would be my recommendation. I have 28" and 42" for my big saw. Covers anything I need it to.
