My BK Sirroco 30.2 was delivered yesterday. Can't wait to fire it up. I was worried that connector stove pipe might need replacing, but my old pipe fit perfectly. Thinking that I might miss the soapstone of the IS. It turned out that the IS and my BK cost the same due to the high cost to ship the IS to NorCal.

You’ll never miss the performance difference that a soapstone liner brings to the table. The IS and the 30 box BK don’t need it with such good burn rate control. The actual combustion of wood is what brings heat.

I agree. The soap stone liner and sides retain heat but the only point you really notice it is once the fire is out and barely coaling the stone will still have some warmth in them, but nothing massive that heats anything more than the area the stove is in.

Congrats on the new heater. Maybe start a new thread to document your experience. Other BK users could chip in with advice/help etc. Enjoy.

What would be the biggest differences betwixt an ideal steel & a fireview for heating?

IS is bigger close to Progress Hybrid. Ones a steel box ones a soapstone stove. Soapstone is a more radiant, a gentler heat but costs about double

The IS is actually bigger than the PH. The IS is Woodstock’s biggest stove with a wide range of outputs. It can outperform the fireview in almost every way since it can be turned way down to get 24 hour burns. Also the fireview is pretty weird looking and small, side door only, and rear vent only. That fireview has earned a reputation as a dependable heater over the decades.

Oh well I ordered the soap stone liner and gonna stick with it, sounds like it was not needed.
Can anyone tell me the size of the pallet the stove comes on?

When I went and got my stove it was on a pallet that was lifted with a fork lift into the truck I had. But it wasn't a "full size" pallet. And I saw a few other stoves in the warehouse that were ready to be shipped / picked up and they all looked about the same size. I don't have the dimensions to share unfortunately.
A regular pallet jack would still fit.
Me, my cousin and my BIL did the old "destroy your back" method, which I don't really recommend, once we got it to my house.

I still have my pallet from my returned stove from July. I'll measure it when I get a chance.

You won’t regret that liner. IMO

I burned a Garrison One smoke dragon from 79 to 2012 (33 years) here in North Central Mass, about 5 cord, every year. It did a nice job heating the house, but my Fireview cut that wood usage by over 30%. Not to mention how much cleaner it burns and the beautiful light show it provides every day.

Got a ship date of 10-29 so hopefully will be burning with it by Thanksgiving.

Believe it or not, there are still people who think we’re lying or somehow being untruthful about this very repeatable wood savings that occurs when switching to a good cat stove. I easily cut wood consumption by 20% when moving from a modern noncat to a good cat stove.

I did not have much of a wood savings with my tube burners so hoping this is a much different experience.
