From my research, if I go longer than 20" bar length, I need to go with 3/8" chain. It has a .325 chain now. Do I need to change the drive sprocket or just the bar to go with 3/8"? Talking about a 254 ported.
.325 and 3/8 are definitely a different size, so when changing between the two, the drive sprocket need to be changed to match chain size.
Thanks. That is what I thought. I was hoping it would just be a bar change. A 22' or 24" bar would be to big for the saw to fell with. Was thinking more towards bucking. I wouldn't have to bend over as far. Not going to do it if I have to change sprocket to go back and forth nor do I want to spend the money to go with 3/8" chain for all my needs for this saw. .
This is why I go to one knee. A lot easier on the back. Look at the opposite side of the log to check for interference, then sling it to it.
Is that what you are doing?! I thought you were giving thanks for the BTU's you were about to harvest!
