I decided to buy a EZ Boardwalk bandsaw mill and plan to go get it next week and start making some sawdust. Any sawing tips are appreciated. My area was devastated by fire a couple of years ago this week and there is so much timber going to waste I decided to try to put some it to good use.
Good luck with your new mill biggest thing to watch with a bandmill is dirt it will dull blades fast and you will get wavy lumber also when you put a log on the mill make a end cut on the log so your blade is starting in fresh cut wood your blade will last a lot longer JB
When we were getting our mill the EZ Boardwalk was in the the top running for us, but we ended up with the Woodland Mills. Hope all goes well for you. I know it all takes a little longer than you want it to. Ours went together well and he had it running pretty quickly, but there was two of us putting it together and getting it going since my neighbor and I went together on it.
Sorry to be so long responding. Been getting my house ready to sell and moving. And thanks for the pointers. I got her set up and going. So simple a cave man can do it. Nothing to put together, just remove the axle and wheels, level up and go to work. Of course I am still learning how to slice up the logs. I started out cutting boards to cover the exterior of my shop/garage. Going with board and batten. I am kinda amazed at the amount of lumber is in a log. Stay tuned. I might be asking a lot of questions on air drying and various other topics.
