And BTW, I asked my wife to come over and smell the fresh splits of RED oak. She looks at me puzzled, then I explain how much I like the smell and that others have commented it smells like puke. She got a good wiff, and said that’s nothing like any puke I’ve ever smelled (she’s a nurse and mother of our 2 children).

Yeah, I don't get the association with puke either. Must be genetic variances in olfactory receptors similar to some people's experience with cilantro tasting like soap.
Love the stuff! But I will admit, if there is too much of it, I get the stinkbug smell/taste. My wife's last batch of fresh guac had way too much, but we powered through it because we love gauc so much.
So after recovering from a slight knee injury, I finally had time to split the rest of this oak haul. It was still soaking wet and heavy as all get out!! Now I just need 3 seasons to let it dry. The ol saying.. patience is a virtue.
