Truckaa welcome to the board, from a Mainah. My grandmother used to plant half an acre of Glads every spring at the end of her garden. My grandfather would plow the area and lots of grandkids meant easy workforce. She was known for them in the area, and supplied some to locals for events/meeting. She would cut them in the early morning and put 3-5 5 gal buckets out by the busy coastal road with a sign for $1/each. Tourists would buy her out everyday and often left more than the dollar. She got quite a kick out of seeing all the people buy her flowers. I’ve grown some out our old house, but they stayed when we sold it, a hectic time in moving I forgot to grab them. Thanks for the reminder that I need to order some for this property!!
I tried posing with my phone earlier but seemed to be challenged with that. It his a duplicate posing, I apologize. Anyway, I am starting to see signs of my Gladwiniola's I'll try to get pics of the progress
You may notice the front one damaged it was because of the thousands of Maple leaves I had in my yard and I try to weed Wack those and I must have hit 1 of my Plants
Mostly the rest of the bulbs 2 mths later. Started planting in April. !) each week hoping to stager the blooming
Welcome to the FHC Truckaa Glads were my mother’s favorite flowers; as a teenager it was my job to dig them up and hang them in the basement in old nylon that had holes or runs. it was a better job to bring them bring them to the neighbors as the mostly older widow would make there best cookies cakes as a thank you. Thanks for the memory
