For a while, my dogs shredded their toys to get at the squeaker, then they ate it, so I disabled the squeaker by pinching them with needle nose pliers. They gave up on shredding toys. So I now leave them in working and the dogs have not gone back to shredding them up. Nice to have them not chewing up stuff.

Do any of you who use the topical tick stuff still find live ticks on your animals? I've gotten at least a couple off of each dog each of the last couple months, thinking about switching to the oral treatment.

Well, the ticks start to die when they bite a dog with the treatment. That's my experience at least. I actually just bought the topical liquid to put on my 2 dogs since we are going up north into tick country Thursday night through the weekend.

Well, we found out why he was abandoned. He had a bad case of "collapsing trachea" that caused him to cough all night long. Our Vet figured this out and got him on the appropriate medicines that helped for a few days. Tonight, he was having a hard time breathing, so we took him to our Vet. While we were there, he passed away calmly and pain free. It was no surprise. At least he had love and comfort in his last few days. Not asking for sympathy. This is just "business as usual" for us, since we foster (hospice) the old, neglected and otherwise disabled. It's what we choose to do with our little time here on Earth.

What topical are you using? We've had very good luck with Frontline, but not so good with Advantix. Of course, nothing is 100% perfect and I'm sure there are local resistance patterns. I'd say talk to your Vet. They will know the local susceptibility/resistance patterns better than anyone else.

That sounds about right. Lyme disease and ixodes ticks are ridiculously prevalent in our area. Even our Vet reminded us to keep and eye on the dogs (at least one got Lyme disease despite 12 month/yr Frontline AND vaccination) and more importantly keep an eye on yourselves. Nothing is 100%. You still need to take care of yourself. That said, i rarely (2-6 times / year) find a live tick on me and<1/yr find a tick attached to me and sucking blood. We live in a hotbed of Lyme disease and other tick borne illnesses. It's up to everyone of us to treat our pet to the best we can and keep an eye on our own safety.

Here's the litter of the pups that we might get a pup from. The three Males are the aqua blue, dark blue and dark green. Cute little buggers. I still think our little Will is in there. 11537394_1593946867526259_5140939322318950420_o.jpg

    GORGEOUS!!!
Just resign yourself to selling them all off. Then, if one, or 2, or 3 don't sell, then...

These guys are not our litter. I wish, because we'd get our little guy for sure then. We just have a deposit on a male, and we are 4th in line. The lady that's 3rd in line is seriously considering getting a female, she was on the fence when she talked with the breeder, and if she does get a female, we get our Will.

We have to wait I until she makes her mind up. That v deadline is end of July. They'll be 8 weeks at 2nd week of August.

They were born on June 19th.

I just can't get too attached, because of the situation. We are not willing to find another breeder at this point. We might wait until the next litter from this breeder, which could be a while. This breeder only has 1-2 litters a year.
