I am not quite sure about that, I have rescued/cared for/loved different pets for years, when I moved in with my husband they all fell in love with him and defended him too :) I also have to wonder if the dog is picking up on your instincts on protecting the wife?

Don't get me wrong, he protects me too when friends come over, especially when throwing darts in the basement! He is so loyal that even when I'm running the table saw and Henry is no where to be found, Harvey lays down under the sawdust port, getting covered in shavings, waiting for me to move to the next station. At which point he comes and patiently awaits the next shower of sawdust! They both qualify as our sons, though! Henry's just a bit more gun(or any loud noise) shy!

Frog legs anyone? A present from the hounds this morning, I have no idea how they got ahold of this in the middle of the winter?

This is Betty and Angus. We had to put Betty down a month ago. She had kidney disease and suffered terribly for 3 days and it was very painful to watch her suffer. The entire time she was going through kidney failure she would not lay down, only stand. Towards the end, she would lay down briefly from exhaustion. It will be some time before I forget about all the times I watched her fall down only to get right back up and just stand there. She was a very sweet girl and everybody that met her loved her.

She could be mischievous at times and get into things she wasn't supposed to, but we loved her nonetheless.

Her favorite thing in the world were her balls

Angus is the sole survivor. We refer to him as our special needs dog, which he is. He has many aliases such as Lickin' licker, Limpy Gimpenstein, Ratso Rizzo and others which consist of expletives. Most people that meet him hate him, as he does them. He's a decrepit little one eyed a$$ that's missing most of his teeth and has really stinky breath, but we love him to death and it will probably be more painful to see him go than it was Betty. In this video, she's trying to get him to clean the sleep off her eyes.

She was a Rat Terrier. The other one is a Toy Fox Terrier. He wasn't always that ugly.

We have three toy rat terriers. Here they are helping campinspecter with his after breakfast nap. Your Angus is not ugly. No dog is. Fox terriers can be quite feisty.

Nice looking rats you have there. They certainly have unusual personalities. Betty was a very independent dog. She could also be very pushy. She had a stuffed toy that she carried around since she was a pup. She just walked around the house with it in her mouth. She would only pick it up one way causing it to have an outline of her mouth on it.
