We had our 16 plus Golden/Chow put down about a month ago. We got her from the shelter when she was 8. Very badly abused. Scared of everything, especially men. The people that had her before us should not be allowed to have pets ever again. It took some time and patience but we got her to the point she could enjoy life for her last few years. The house seems empty without her.
Got a rescue shepherd now. Terrified of wheelers beer cans, gun shots, etc. She is living her best life.. from another green mtn boy
I had a lab mix (samoyedxlab). He certainly didn't get his smarts from the Sammy side . He was goofy, willing and a tryer, but he just wasn't the brightest bulb. Easy to work with and train? Sure. Pretty sure he had exactly zero chance of becoming even a minor champion at anything if we had tried . Well, that isn't true, he was a champion at winning people's hearts, everyone he met was a friend and loved him. Picked out Sampson as a puppy in 1989 and he was a Mama's boy. Even though he passed way back in 2003, I still think of him often. Sampson as a puppy with his Niki, who we rescued a couple months before we got Sampson. Niki was a mutt and had a deformed leg. Vet was unsure if it was a physical defect or her leg had been broken and not set. She was less than a year old in this picture. She was great and would wake us up when Sampson needed out as a puppy (she wasn't even house trained when we got her). And Bogie (the husky) who came with us from Kansas so was a couple of years old at this time. This picture is actually after we had had Sampson for a couple of months. When we first got him he was 9 weeks old and a lot smaller - I lost a lot of pictures when I moved so that is the earliest one I can find. This the last one I have of my good boy, taken shortly before he passed in January of 2003.
Great story and pics bogieb I think world would be a better place if we had more people like Samson! Loving, loyal happy
All three kitties yesterday morning. It was a heavily overcast, cool morning and it was a sleep-fest. Rainey chose the pen Rita chose the back of the couch Spot chose a pillow and blanket on the couch
Finally found a good home for the last kitten out of 4 These pics I had my friend post on FB Did it again All the others she found homes for them too. A guy and his wife wanted him He's very similar to a cat they had for many years that passed away. I kept a yellow brother to this one
The guy sent a pic today They are taking really good care of him Him and his wife said to stop in anytime I won't I know they'll take care of him.
Looks like he has settled right in and is comfortable if he's laying out in the open. Glad you found him a good home.
Better late than never, pup got a taste of hunting the other night, went and picked up a small bird he shot (she did not retrieve it, it was still kicking-but-that was her first time, instinct are def there). She's in and out of the lake for retrieving sticks and also follows kiddo out pretty far, but she doesn't go after ducks, interesting. This weekend is her first game bird hunt, the first few are no guns, just her. Should be fun!
There was a thread regarding this earlier this year. Turned out to be a whole lot of fun! Glad that he is down and safe.
I would've never got him I've always let them learn how to get down But the neighbor girls was upset.
