This little doggie and I are training each other quite well. To tell me her food or water bowl is empty she rests her head on my lap, not just a quick pat on the head (that she does 100 times/day), but until we make eye contact and she runs over then stares at whichever bowl is empty so I understand. Also, she likes to stand on top of the couch back and blocks my view to the tv, she now knows "scoot over" and a waving/swoosh gesture with my hand to get down.
Looks a lot like my Bubba.Newest cat, that makes 4 here now.He started hanging around the backyard early last November.Checked around several block radius in neighborhood,no one had any missing pet signs on trees or telephone poles. No ads on Craigslist or FB either.Started getting cold later in the month,he'd hang around near garage/shop door during the day some, always had food/water for him. He'd go somewhere at night, always return in the morning here.By early December still no sign of ownership, there was a big snowstorm that week,2-3 smaller storms in the week that followed with bitter cold that stayed well into January. Then I kept him inside semi heated shop, occasionally my other 3 would meet him.2 older large neutered males, both front declawed by previous owner, and 1 small spayed female roughly 5 1/2 yrs with all her claws. By early January he was allowed free reign of the entire house from shop & finished basement to the 2nd floor.Gradually they all got used to him within a couple weeks,no major issues, they get along great with a daily chase/hide & seek part of the routine.Took him to vet in early April for his required shots, routine exam.Guessed him to be between 5 & 6 yrs old,not neutered or microchipped. They commented how calm, mellow he is for a young intact male. Not aggressive at all.For about the first 3 months the oldest & biggest male (14yrs old,18lbs lol) would charge at the ''new guy'' & chase him around some, even biting him a couple times, was obviously jealous that he was getting more attention haha. But Bubba went along with it,even promoted it The oldest had his 2yr checkup in May,he had dropped down to 15.5 from previous visit & was in perfect health, the vet said ''he obviously feels good, with him chasing the other cats again, cause he hadnt done much of that in a while" They even sit together on opposite ends of sofa, sometimes rarely more than a foot apart so whatever differences they had at first worked itself out.
Took Holly for yearly vet visit. Even though she month flea and tick meds, she came up positive for Lyme disease. Not showing any symptoms. Blood smear looks good. She did get a shot for Lyme disease with a booster end of month. She also got put on antibiotics for 28 days as preventive. She also has a growth on the inside of her mouth that we have to watch. If it grows quickly they will probably have to remove it as it could be cancer. Vet didn't seem to concern. Not the best visit.
Hopefully they caught the Lyme disease in the early stages. I would venture to guess if she's not showing symptoms that is the case. I had a dog that had a mouth growth removed that turned out not to be cancerous. But was just as glad to have had it taken care of (and I'm sure he found it more comfortable). Later in life he had a toe removed, that one was cancerous but they got it all and after a couple of week you never knew that he was missing a digit unless you knew. Hopefully in Holly's case it is just a nuisance growth.
She is doing great. Finally off the meds, taking longer walks, energy level is much better and just overall almost back to herself. Thanks for asking.
Correct, unfortunately there are near zero wild birds left to hunt. They are happy to run all critters off.
Angus or as wildwest wanted him named “smushie face” at 2 months And now at 7 months and about 80 # not to fear my daughters leg.. He is standing on floor asking her to go outside.. His middle name is Wilbur because he grunts like a pig..
My poor Molly isn't any better. The vet offers me two things. Pain managment or euthanasian. She is alert. eats, still goes outside for her duty. Entire rear leg is swollen up badly. Has some paralysis in that leg from nerve involvement. On 4 weeks now since seen initially. I have a call into some specialist in Portland. They have oncology and orthopedic specialist there. Waiting on a call back once they review the x rays etc. Molly is so smart and such a good friend. It pains me to see her this way.
