Rainey decided that the towel that was drying on top of the pen needed roughed up and laid on. This was last weekend when the pellet stove was going and that towel can't be dried with softener, so I opted for the other hot air appliance to get it dry. Also, that is the cats' towel that is normally folded up as a comfy pad for them to lay on top of the pen. Yes, I woke her up taking pictures.
I didn't realize that cats would make nests in blankets. They just seem to plunk themselves down and stretch out. Our dogs make nests all the time.
The cat we have now nests ontop AND gets under the covers, I think it might be because he got so sick when he was little (near death, vaccine reaction) and I'd take him to bed with me. He picks up the blanket or comforter in his mouth to get in! Too cute when I wake kiddo up in the morning, he pokes his little head out when she sits up.
I think Rainey only did that because the towel was stretched out in one layer and she wanted a little more cushion between her and the cage wires. That towel is usually folded into fourths - although occasionally she will scrunch in a corner of the towel, maybe as a pillow. Rainey will also nestle under blankets regularly. I don't know how many times I've sat/laid on her. Spot will crawl under blankets occasionally, but only when I am already there.
I thought something was missing How old is he now, about 7-8 months? My lab/Samoyed mix got up to 70 by the time he was 7 months. Thankfully he slowed down and only got up to 85.
5 and half months. He is not real easy to get a picture of... He is sleeping half the time always on his back His other 50% is split evenly between eating and being a holy terror
She brought these to me on the 4th of July I'm talking to a animal rescue To have them all Fixed I'll keep the mother and hopefully give the kittens away A fixed cat is easier to place than one that's not.
I've had several positive happenings in the last 24 hours, and another just now! Lila wildcat showed up after being gone since the 4th of July weekend. Last time she went missing kiddo and I finally caught her from the help from a call from a neighbor down the road and she was skinny and filthy. Tonight she is neither, clean and good weight. Idk. I'm used to house pets. Just THRILLED TO SEE HER even though she's not a very nice kitty.
Our Holly was diagnosed with heartworms several months ago. When we adopted her in December, she was "clear" from the vet in Texas. At her first vet appointment up here, blood work showed the start of them. Her treatment has gone well and she is just on meds now after 3 injections. As the worms die, white blood cells attack them, and they settle in the lungs and she has had labored breathing for a few weeks. The vet said this is normal. She is gaining her energy back, but gets winded on walks. She likes looking for voles in the tall grass, but that is about it. Vet recommended keep her calm and we have been limiting her adventures. She is getting better, hopefully she is clear on the next blood test in a few weeks. Haven't seen ticks for a while, which is good.
I'm glad she's getting better Jon! They can still live a full complete life after that diagnosis, and you caught them early which is key!
Keeping them calm is the hard part. That was the biggest worry when my friend had a dog with a pretty advanced case of heartworm - when they died and settled in the lungs. Sounds like Holly is making good progress
