A friend of mine lost his german shepherd last year. His other dog was so sad for weeks until a new shepherd pup showed up and they bonded so well. The older dog is showing the pup the ropes. My wife's friend has an older deaf boston terrier mix. They saw a small older dog that is dead in a shelter and she applied. We hope it works out for them.
It was Hayden's first birthday today. 85 lbs of chunk. I got him a new toy on my way home from work. It's a shark.
I let our dog out for potty tonight, sometimes she pushes off the glass door running/playing with a toy like pushing off the wall swimming laps. Tonight was full out body slam, in the seconds it took me to get up and walk 5' to open the door for her she'd turned and gone back a few feet then body slam on door to come in, tail tucked. I wonder what she saw??? Doubt it was a stray cat (she knows them and and screams in delight chasing them ), other guesses are skunk (no smell outside or on her thankfully), red fox, racoon, poss a coyote or wild horse going through neighbors open property (not likely). ?
Badger got to show Hayden the ropes about birthdays at our house. Badger has his 11th birthday on the 30th. So my wife will make another dog cake for them then. Badger is losing some body mass, sure to the cancer, so he'll get more cake. I know he'll love that. We're talking every day he's happy as a great day for Badger. He was assisting the arborist and I yesterday.
He's still got puppy face yet though. Between him filling out more, and eventually getting snipped at 2 yrs old, he's not done getting even heavier.
I think I know now, I drove by many piles of manure on the road and by the house pulling out to go to the bus stop today. I bet it was a wild horse.
We do the same for our pups. Not a single PB jar goes into the recycling bin that hasn't been chewed on.
One year , wow time flies. Great looking pup ! Spoiled , who's got it better than them ? I don't even get a cake on my birthday. Best buddies for sure
