99 lbs really likes dogs and misses her a lot. But she will not relent and allow another dog a happy home. Three different times now, over the last few years, I have offered to purchase her "dream dog" so to speak. Bernese Mt. dog. All three times would have been pups, but..... Myself, I would prefer a black lab. She has gotten used to the convenience of picking up and going without worrying about kennels, taking the dog, lodging etc. I enjoy reading this thread and seeing the pics. I tried staying away from it, but...….
Can relate to how you feel. When we lost BEAR it put me into a real funk and I decided no more dogs. It was just too hard to lose them. After 8 months of self denial, I couldn't take it any more. Stumbled on Missy Dixie and the stars must have been aligned. My wife had tolerated BEAR (he was always pushing the dominance button with her). Now, she has totally immersed herself with training Miss Dixie. It is amazing to see how they interact together. We're both a lot happier to have her here to help pass the time away.
I just ordered about 6-8 weeks of prescription food, for my two geriatric doggies. Medications not included. God Love Em. They are still happy.
I think I'm gonna move out to your place as I believe we spend less on our meals! Could you prepare meals with BP meds in it?????
You want a dog. go adopt a rescue. Tell the wife the dog is yours, just make sure you take care of it and all the dog related issues. My wife loves our pets, but does little for feeding, grooming and bathing. I also do the litter boxes. It is the price of having pets. Wife did her part with the 4 kids we raised. My pets do so much for me. My cats don't bite or scratch even when I shave them down twice a year.
Gotta keep her happy savemoney and I don't think getting a pup without her consent wouldn't be a good idea. She likes dogs very much, probably more than I; but if she isn't ready, then there will be no dog.
OK I hear ya. do you think she would allow you to foster a dog? that may break the ice. who knows, fostering just might fill the bill. Often short stays for dog who don't do well in a kennel.
We had a neighbor come by to our New Year's Eve party a couple decades ago, he was hosting his son in law close to our age..... He brought his guitar and sang that song. Didn't realize til now it's the same song though I've seen you post it here before
Giz inspected the mule today. Lead dog. It's top speed is sight-by-a-post slow... kind of like a powered walker... ...
