Can't imagine being in your position and having to rehome her, but I really do understand. To be what you need to be for the rest of the family at home, you are forced to be realistic or no one will be. chaos has a tendency to snowball. Poodles are very smart, at least the big ones are. It should be easy to find a home for her. she was raised with a child and other pets. Here in Maine, dogs are imported from southern areas and PR to both rescue and fill the demand. One can anticipate to pay 300-400 dollars at the pound for adoption, any breed or mix. puppies go for more and seniors for less. special arrangements for senior dog. Maine is always shutting down hoarders and breeders who are suspect. No unsupervised animals allowed to roam. strict leash law. any adoption from an agency are only neutered animals. Breeders have told me that the high prices they charged are in part to assure the dog is going to a home where the owners can afford the cost of the pets upkeep. unless you want a pitbull mix, you really have to look from place to place to find what you had in mind.

 

Same here Larry!! Sad I know several people who have bought puppies because it was same price as rescues..

 

Thanks save and I did years ago have a lady down in the states do this for us and she nailed the pair of them right on.

Our Shepherd is a rescue.. if I ever meet the Jerk that threw beer cans and tormented her.. Dogs very nervous around beer cans, fly swatters, workbooks, trucks and 4 wheelers. Until she knows you..

Cricket ran into a stick a while ago and didn't tell us. We took her to the vet yesterday feeling like bad parents. She is shaved, full of antibiotics and still full of beans. We have our granddog staying with us for the week. She is recovering from surgery for the removal of two fatty lumps. So Shadow is the only healthy one of the bunch right now.

Dogs will keep you running just as little kids do! Do you know why they removed the fatty tumors from the grand dog? Molly has two. one is hens egg size and the other is walnut size. Hope the two post op fur friends recover soon.

 

That is among the issues with some rescues. During their fist few years they become wired to the situation. It take a long time to unwire them. Somethings they never get over. Sometimes any dog has phobias that can't be understood. One of my labs used to run and hide from the noise of the vacuum. Another lab would love to have her fur vacuumed. We have a young siberian husky my son rescued. They live here. That husky was rescued from Bronx where he was filmed being beaten with a bat. The dog was taken away and sent to Maine to be rescued to a home in a rural environment. It has taken many months of consistent work to calm him down and follow commands. I am pleased to say it is working. He responds well to rewards for good behavior. We all have to have patients and understand what we are dealing with. My son says that the movie series, Game of Thrones, is the reason for the popularity of the huskies. Doesn't do any dog and good service to be popular in a movie. A home in Bronx is totally inappropriate for a Husky.

We had a Husky years ago save and she was a very fun pet.

 

One lump was in her "armpit" and was 1 1/2 lbs. The other was in the hip area where her leg rubs against her side and it was 1/2 lb. Both were in areas that were being aggravated by movement. She has a much better gait now.
