Friday appt. Mild to moderate renal failure. Scrips for both arthritis and what sounds similar to your Prince, Phenylpropanolamine for leaking while asleep. Strongly suggested a prescription renal dog food, except it's $65 for 18 lb bag for purina on Chewey and $130 for 40lb for royal canin at the vet :jaw: I had a shepx that lived to 16, she started leaking, vet Rx'd estrogen I bought at the human pharmacy and I recall some hoopla getting it, guess it went by the wayside, appears this is what replaced it.

Idk, low phosphorus, low protein food for him, looking for a half way acceptable that a normal person can afford alternative. Blondie and her intestinal disease requires low fat. Then the new pup Peaches gets normal. Guess that makes me abby-normal, I'll have 4 different foods in the house for dogs and cats :loco:  I'll research more, leaning towards mixing canned and "senior" kibble for him, suggestions from you or others here appreciated :handshake:

Estrogen only works for female dogs - I had a dobie that was on that for years because she started leaking at age 6 shortly after being spayed (I guess late spaying causes weakened bladder walls from the sudden withdrawal of estrogen). Males get Dexi because estrogen just doesn't help them out since they never had that much to begin with. IDK, maybe they have changed the script for female dogs too since the 80's - and it may depend on the vet anyway.

Sorry, I've never used a senior dog food, so no suggestions and I haven't had a dog for several years so don't know what is out there and available.

    They sure are.

"You good? Yup.... you? Yup! They could've put a little peanut butter in this mask eh? Yea, they probably should've. "

The animal rescue messaged me today, that I need to pick up the dead cat and my trap or pay $50 for cremation. You're mistaken, dead cat and trap picked up a couple weeks ago, he's here in our freezer :(, WWW bonked his foot getting on the quad, it got worse over a couple days, turns out bone spurs in that big toe (well both toes) and small innocent bonk on the brake pedal inflamed the bone spurs, so he cannot dig a hole and is now gimping around in a walking boot. Idk, I've had bad outcomes before and the vet waived the charges every time with different vets in different cities. WWW paid for the surgery though he died, and now they want more $$ to cremate the dead cat that is here with us? Not sure it's a good idea for me to actually look, but I cannot help but wonder if they gave WWW the wrong dead cat? (black trash bag).

Hey, you took a dead cat off their hands, what does it matter which one? Is it tagged?
Sorry about WWW's foot. I hope the air cast helps.

Call them up and let them know. Someone probably checked off someone else's name by mistake. of course you could always take pictures and send them too.

Thanks Midwinter and bogieb , I have not found the courage to open the bag and look. I heard he was so stressed during the ride and also at the vets he injured his forehead trying to get out of the trap. No doubt 1/2 my fear is guilt from putting him in this trap in the first place.

I could not agree with you more Midwinter, just So Very Wrong to treat an animal like that. Not sure how much you've seen of my posts here but this vet clinic is not up to par, just unfortunate they are the ones doing the TNR's. I do not know if he is tagged, but they did microchip him before he passed. OMG I worked at a Humane Society for a few years as both the Vet Asst and took kennel shifts, before no kill shelters existed, my Humane Society was a founder of no kill shelters, we did NOT loose animals dead or alive even back then. (except one frequent flyer, friendly wolfX, he could open every kennel lock, open round door knobs, scale the walls, even when locked in the food room he jumped ontop of the bags of food and escaped through the ceiling panels).

BB, I did call them, the office manager said it was miscommunication there (ie the previous sentence above). I'm honest to a fault and shared I'd rather not go cut the bag open before she put me on hold to find out why they are calling me about a dead cat that was supposedly given to WWW, the Black Tail cat, the stray I cared for and became attached to and see his twin every day show up here and put up with Peaches jumping on her and trying to playing with her just to get some companionship and food

As you all guessed, the remaining "twin" cat's house is on hold along with getting Black Tail burried with the injured foot. Thanks for the well wishes Midwinter, it's actually a plastic velcro boot with thin foam in it, not air, but it serving the same purpose and great protection with a kid and pets running around the house :)

Went over to a friend's lakehouse and Maple put some decent swim time in. First time since the surgery.

It was a great trip back home - beautiful and easy traffic. Guess everyone partied too hard last night to get a jump start to going to Laconia. Just saw pictures on the news and they look pretty darn busy for being the 1 st weekend!

I get up early, but I do't expect the rest of the world to :handshake:
