Wow, you've had birdie since 2003? He's had quite a run! Good on you for keeping him alive for that long.

Cockatiels live an average of 18 years in captivity. He hasn't seemed to age at all in the way he acts or looks - I think he's related to the energizer bunny (without the energy - he's very much a couch potato type).

I gave Rita her flea/tick treatment this morning. This afternoon she was meowing at me thru the storm door while I was repotting a houseplant on the railing to the deck. I let her out, and
here she is getting reacquainted with her outdoor territory for the warmer months.

Both cats had their nails trimmed this weekend so they are more user-friendly.

We finally had some nice weather to let the cats out on the back porch. They are out there now. I just turned the heat down in the house and let the cool air in.

My cat was puzzled by the lack of fire yesterday. But she is loving the warm temps outside. Let the shedding begin...

Rita has been shedding for a couple of weeks now - I've been sweeping hair off my desk (where she hangs out while I'm on the computer) and picking up hair bunnies every day. And my dark work pants are covered with her hair too. I'm sure the "kittens" are shedding too, but their gray hair blends in.

Took two dogs to the vet. Heartworm test and pills for Peaches, and microchip. Blondie has a growth on her toe, antibiotics for now in case it's just a puncture wound that's infected, if not, surgery to remove. $250 today, $300 for spay soon :emptywallet::emptywallet:

Different vet this time, really liked him. Showed me how to tape Blondie's ears on top of her head to help with her ears. She already shook the tape off, need to get creative on other ways. He said one week as needed. Also said Elizabethan collar or booties for her, maybe I can rig something for the booties too? Pantyhose reinforced and over her shoulders?
Recommended new food, only $98 for 35lb bag :bug: Also said some of the higher end Purina's could work.

    Similar here,
, we've been running the woodstove while the pellet stove was out of commission, kitty kept going out there and looking for it :)

Put the Destructo Duo in "jail" for a little while today. Since they don't respect the gate to the stairs, I needed them corralled while I brought in pellets from the truck, thru the garage and into the basement. Fortunately they don't view this as a punishment or being cooped up since that was their safe place while I was at work for the first month or so I had them. They either nap, wrestle or play with toys.

I'd be too tempted to call that a cat house!
