I worked today, Dawn was home with Maple. She said she did well today, more "together" than the first surgery leg was. The only problem we're having is letting us put ice on it. Supposed to ice 4x/day for 10 minutes each. Only for 4 minutes once when she was eating. We'll keep trying.

That picture I sent ya of Emma with the tenser bandage around her knee has the gel pack in it and its formed before its put in the freezer with an empty beer bottle. Is there any way of wrapping Maple kinda that way? Emma likes it a lot!

That's a good idea, worth a shot. She'll likely not like it, but I'll give it a go. Thx!

    Warning, kinda graphic pictures below

Pretty gnarly looking incision, bruising moving along her leg quite a bit. She's definitely doing better though than when her first leg was done.

[IMG] I had a lab who would get into the kitty litter [IMG] I had to isolate the cat boxes from the dog. Oh, and yes it does cause bad dog breath.

Poor Maple. With all that bruising, you know it got to hurt. You have to wonder just what she thinks about the situation. She is smart so you know she is thinking about it. I had a lab that also had leg surgery. After his castration, he didn't want anything to do with going to the vet. He was over a hundred pounds. Couldn't do anything to get him to go into the vet's office. Usually, the vet would come out to the car and do whatever was needed, mostly just immunization updates.

I'm sure she wonders..... but how it goes in this house right now, she's as comfortable as can be. The living room is blocked off for her to lessen the area she can get around, and it's a do nothing but hang out weekend with her

I'm thinking she's relieved that she's home, with her family pampering her.

Hey, looks like she made it all the way on to her dog bed/pillow :) Wonder why they shaved her armpit(s)? Surgical restraints/supports?

Maple continues to improve. Tomorrow is her last day for the heavier pain meds. The incision is looking better, swelling is going down and the bruising is subsiding. Originally it went up and down her leg and onto her abdomen. Tomorrow she'll be on her own, Dawn will check on her at lunch. She'll be confined to the living room.
