Giz/Emma and everyones pets on the board

Maple is home, certainly in rough shape, but this is expected. Really glad i put a ramp up to the deck. The before xrays compared to the after are night and day. They cut the bone in half and twisted it into a more suitable place, added a plate and cleaned up the area.

Thanks, this is very challenging. She managed to get from the car up the ramp onto the deck and into the house. Layed for a bit, then went to the door. We thought she had to pee, brought her outside, she just layed there for over an hour. I sat with her. Finally got her back in the house, she's now sleeping after giving her a sedative. There is some bleeding at the area of incision, which is a significant area around her knee.

 

Glad to have good supportive family here on FHC!

Hmmm, some things don't affect being heavily medicated and feeling like chit!

Sometimes I think it's almost as hard for the pet owner as it is for the pet.

Got a better picture of the incision. The plate is under there. Poor thing. The Dr said swelling will continue and get worse on down the leg. We'll try cold compresses as best as we can

 

Running scenarios in my mind on pets and the cost of veterinary medical bills on needs vs guilt/wants vs availability of funds. Just spent 3x what was expected, and both have irregularities that will need to be looked into further (read: $$ not in the budget, a difficult ordeal to get them to and from a veterinary office capable of the testing 2+ hours one way). Neither my sweet little old man Blackie nor my ever sweet-easy going-loves everybody and everything Blondie noticed yesterday when a couple came here to pick up a piece of furniture I advertised as free, they are still awesome pets, not going anywhere soon hopefully. But I miss the sense of security. Idk, it's a rhetorical question, cannot make plans without knowing but cannot find out to know without a large expense.

 

Overall, last night, a few hours here and a few hours there of sleep. 2nd full day since surgery, took awhile, Maple got up to potty outside with some assistance, and held her own getting a drink inside. She is starting to get some swelling at her ankle, we did a cold compress for about ten minutes.

 

I'm so Sorry Stinny! She's playing in the sweet trails of heaven!
