Spot has been trying to get to my breakfast of scrambled eggs covered with butter and pure maple syrup - but I knew better than to let her have any. So this morning I made the kittens their own special batch with just an egg and a touch of cream. Rainey just sniffed and walked away but Spot dug right in.

Silly kittens love to lick watermelon too. After a Google search, I found that those types of things aren't really uncommon - apparently just uncommon with cats I've had.

Blackie was helping me pack up and disassemble the old bathroom for an upcoming remodel today (he can't hear much anymore). Pleased I was able to get the bookshelf out and it fit well in the hall across the way I turned and tried to high five him:whistle:, woops I've been extremely tired lately. That gesture is also his hand gesture for "stay". You could see his little face puzzled like he was thinking ummmm ya, I wasn't moving. :picard:

I've talked with this constant companion for so many years, guess I'm getting used to all hand gestures and no voice, just a small bit of confusion on my part.

I ordered a dog whistle, haven't tried it yet. If it works, I'll put it on my keychain to call him back when we are out and about.

Our dogs love watermelon too. Just flipped the FHC calendar to August and there are the dogs sitting around the fire-pit on their chairs. Just love the photo.

Took both dogs to vet today, $335. Physical exams, rabies, they aspirated some cysts on Blackie, they are out of control on his stomach, like 8 or 10 bigger than I'm used to ones (lipomas  ) but a new fast growing one on his front leg was not identifiable, watch and see mode for now, and another round of meds for Blondies yeast ears. Tomorrow morning Blondie gets dental and extractions (she has terrible teeth, 10 years old next month, already 6 dentals so far), and the decay is pretty extreme since her 6th in 2016 and I have a feeling her thyroid went low, coat is rougher and she lost most of curls so a thyroid panel too. $1000:emptywallet::emptywallet::emptywallet: and Cocoa is finally getting neutered $175. o_O but glad to have the crew all taken care of with the exception of Blackie dental and poss tumor removal after Master Card gets a rest.

I just remembered the vet was going to prescribe a sedative for Blackie for thunderstorms and we all forgot so I emailed them (busy appt), it's ready and WWW will pick it up tomorrow. And she recommended a thunder jacket.

Uggh, hard to like that post. We are well over $10k in vet bills this year...too bad you can't get a ss# for your dog.

Not doubt on the SS#, Blackie is retirement age:rofl: , and worked very hard for the family and myself his whole life. We've had between 2 - 4 dogs at any given time since 1990, and a cat and 2 llamas too, normally we'd be adding a new member to the pack, but things change. I need an able dog for my sense of security, Blackie cannot hear or see well anymore and Blondie is no guard dog, but she still hears and sees well, I will likely wait til she's ready to retire before getting another one and strong possibility it will only be one. It just seems like they age so much faster in their older years and every single one though we've been through it 10 times .

I'll pay vet bills to keep them well as long as makes sense for them and our bank account. Sweet lil souls not only deserve it, but earned it :)

That's too bad wildwest! We'll be in the same boat in a couple weeks. Maple going in for TPLO surgery. This has been needed for a year, but we put it off in hopes she heals up, but this is not possible. Prayers for maple second week in August!
