Giving it another go around on the fancy microchip cat door. New $$ batteries in it (I'll get rechargeable ones soon bocefus78 ), really nice day here, and we were lucky to get both cats, re-programmed/tested/door working. WWW's putting in new windows on the "porch", they are used, but new to us and better than the crooked (some cracked) storm windows in there when we bought this place. Also, a neighbor a mile from here might use the old storm windows for a cold frame or her barn or something. We had an old upholstered rocker chair out there, it has now been sprayed by one of the other cats not welcome here. Too bad, it was still in good shape. Anyway once the windows are in the little ladies can come in from the wind and cold and always have a full food bowl :)

I know I've been talking about this for over a year now, but one day I'm going to trap a 3rd cat, get him done with Trap and Release, and program in his microchip too. He's the exact shape and size of my neighbors little lady (who is now around here), and both their meows are odd and unmistakable, but more importantly, all three included our Lila wildcat, previous neighbors wildcat, and him all get along.

I grew up that way, over 20 cats in the house at one point! Mostly negligent farmers but negligent people dropping boxes of kittens!

Well the sun finally made an appearance and the old dude wanted to go out side "finally"... When it's crappy out I gotta drag his @$$ out the door, so it turned into play time. The new pup is growing as you can see and the Corgis just love her! It's funny when the ball gets thrown, My young Corgi looks at me as if to say, do you really expect me to keep up with her? o_O.

I know, I know, I'm soft hearted and not used to this. I was raised in suburbia, then worked at a Humane Society as the Vet Asst and saw more than I'd like to have seen. We got a cat after marriage and house, indoor only, lil cupcake, he lived 17 years, almost made it to the birth of our daughter. Couple years ago I was on the phone in truck in the driveway and cat started meowing to me through the window, opened the door to pick her up, :picard:her mamms were huge compared to the size of her practically kitten body. Fed her a bit that night, she moved her kittens to under the old garage here 2 days later. Called the shelter here (no ACO, sheriffs only) and shelter was full. Animal Welfare Society took her kittens but could not take her. So, I paid the (very inexpensive) trap and release for her, of course hubby and I committing to always feed and care for her. We tried really really really hard for like a year to help her be a house cat- she liked being inside sometimes but outside most the time, and left too many scars on us, dogs, and worse, our daughter. Most of them unprovoked. Wasn't fair to the dogs and lil one....

Met a neighbor down the road, she started helping around the house and I started seeing a new cat once in awhile. Turns out it was yet another dumped cat that started sitting on her window ledge. Long story short, that cat was following my neighbor here when she came a couple days a week and that neighbor has since moved. That poor lil lady had litter after litter for several years before I met the neighbor-yep, we had her fixed under the trap and release program too.

I have never seen nor met or experienced strays personally , "farm cats" or "barn cats" as they call them here till now (but ya, treated alot of sad chit at the humane society). Still not used to it but doing what I can for them. I don't get how they survive -38* below nights and windchills worse than -50*, but they do:eek:. So, of course I had to learn the hard way, you can take them out of the wild but you cannot take the wild out of them.

Anyway, thanks for your kind short message that somehow I turned into let you know the cat chapter in my life story

I must mention though, when the we started catching our wildcat's kittens the opening to under the garage was impressive, tons of mice/bunny parts (hands and feet), that small cat is an impressive hunter!! I took a pic of the new windows hubby is putting in today and there are a bunch of bird feathers......

Wow, growing fast. How do you keep her from the road? They move so fast and no way to catch them.

So true.. tomorrow is not guaranteed for any of us.

But yeah, 2011 was a 'bit' rough.
But life MUST continue on the other side also. It HAS to!!

I am a drinker, and 99% of my beer drinking is in the late afternoon and evenings when work is done.

The morning after my Father died, I got out of bed, grabbed a bottle of Jim Beam, looked at Jill and said "I'm done.. can't do any more"

Not my proudest moment, but still true.

Jill and Holly are what means most to me in this world.

People can be so cruel to cats. Here's a picture of a feral cat I intercepted on her way to a kill-shelter. They would have put her down, as she was really wild. I made her a barn cat.

In 2012 somebody dumped this little one off near my place.

She had a belly full of these:
I found homes for all of them--you just gotta ask enough people.

Here's my latest score. I call her Buttermilk. I found her in a laundromat. Poor little thing was trying to get a drink out of the gutter than the washers discharged into. I told her if she stuck around till my wash was done I'd take her home. She is the calmest cat I've ever seen.

Those are some very content kitty's.
I personally like cats and LOVE to watch them stealth hunt. :binoculars:

Jill's allergic, so none in the house. I have come to "tolerate" the strays that run around, but I'm still not crazy about feral cat populations blossoming.

I don't have the funds to capture and take them for neutering and such, so tolerating them is the best I can do for now.

Holly has tree'd a few of them, don't think she's a fan of cats at all.
