We are considering a second Yellow or Black Lab so they can keep each other busy, she will be Sally.

I always go for two. Not just for me, but for just for what you said. Even with an age gap, they get along and play together. Big issue with two is if they run off. I put on the electric collars and they stay to home. Only needed it for the first couple years. Labs are so smart, they learn very fast, but still get tempted. Labs are chewers so keep plenty of dog toys and chews around. We haven't any horror stories to tell of property destruction, but I know a lot of folks who do.

That is sooo good to hear! Hope he keeps it up.:dancer::thumbs:
Hodge came home this morning. He is still not eating by himself. His mouth hurts but he can't have surgery until he gets a little better. Nothing we can do about the tumor in his nose but maybe we can still buy him a little more time.

I was cleaning and oiling the fan today and the new kitten kept stealing the screws, bolts, & nuts. I finally found everything and got it back together. I brought the shop vac back downstairs and came back to find this:

I didn't even get a chance to clean up or put the tools away. That is our fat cat on the left, he is about 4 years old, and his new best buddy, the 4 month old kitten. When he is in the house they are inseparable.

I guess we need a bigger mat in case the old girl wants to join them.

Glad to hear he's on the mend. Might I suggest- 1 egg, boiled for 60 sec., 1 saltine cracker (crushed up and mixed with the egg), and 2lbs. of bacon. That should put some meat on his bones.  Actually, the egg/cracker mix works for my cats when they come around after being ill. Bit of salted butter in the mix works too.

Thank you, I have all those ingredients on hand. He is only eating people food so fingers crossed! We've thrown everything in fridge and pantry at the wall for him, what stuck was thin sliced turkey lunch meat. Sure, pretty good stuff, but we know he needs more. (never met a cat that turned his nose up to canned tuna and several brands of canned cat food).

Did he not like the Gerber baby food? That is usually what mine love when they won't touch anything else. Only the meaty ones like turkey no veggies. Once they get a little better i try Fancy feast classics. Hope he gets better soon.

Crazy, he did NOT :picard: I ended up force feeding him with a syringe alternating water back then, now since he's up and around I put it out for him and turns his nose up to it and the other things I put out for his mini buffet, crazy, huh? (Gerber baby food, we had a couple chicken varieties and a turkey one)

Hodge isn't doing so well. Still not eating on his own no matter what we offer and he hates being syringe fed. His nose is still swollen and i fear that will get worse.
Lucy feels great but her stool is still soft, at least it's not liquid. She is such a big girl it is hard to find enough meet to cook for her. I can't believe they want almost $6 for a pound of beef heart. She goes through 3 lbs of meat plus veggies and supplements every day. I found that plain gelatin helped firm her up a bit. I stir it into the hot food when i cook.
Right now they are all barking at some coyote who are howling close by. There's also a hound dog who seems to be on his own. He is a big older guy (100lbs+)and was very friendly when he met me at the creek. I can hear him back in the woods. He had a collar on but no id and was neutered and well fed. Hopefully he has a home and is just roaming. He doesn't come to our house. Could be that Max won't let him. Although they got along great in the woods. It's going to get awfully cold for him. 21 tomorrow night.
