Thanks Save, yes indeed it has been a tough go without him. This is the first time in 50 years I have been dogless. As much as I am a true dog lover, Bear was our last. With advancing age, unknown future health knowledge and no one to take a dog should we be unable to care for them, we have decided to not replace him. Best I can offer is to be a dog sitter for friends as I recently had done with a friend's Great Dane. To those who have them, love em' while you have them. Hoping Molly gets better real soon.

Yeah my wife tells me when I'm not home he is a monster if anyone walks but. If anyone knocks on the door he tries to chew it down.

Better, She is sleeping a lot, but has gone out and played with the grandchildren. She is eating well and the other end is working. She did have some horrid gas, but that is over now. She sat with me tonight when we had a fire outside in the pit. Now back in and she relaxing in my recliner. I think she ate something toxic. I'm keeping a close eye on her. She will eat berries so just maybe there are some I have missed. Never know what she will put in her mouth.

I too lost a lab mix from bloat. The first 2 times he bloated I got him in to the vet's in time to just induce vomiting and that took care of it. The 3rd time his stomach twisted and he went thru surgery at the emergency clinic. He did great during the surgery (for a 13 Y/O dog, that was an accomplishment according to them). I had stayed thru the surgery, so they let me go back and tell him good night and then I headed home. But the time I got home, they had called and left a message. I called back and found he had a heart attack just minutes after I walked out. They said it was as if he hung on long enough for me to say goodbye, then he felt that he could go. I still miss my mama's boy even though it has been over 10 years :(.

Glad to hear she is doing better! There is so much they can get into. I searched the ground and actually found some of those mini tomato looking things right off the main trail you posted the other day. I showed Dawn so she would know, and destroyed them!

Wow, that is horrible, but glad he held on for you. This bloat is scary. I didnt even know about it until a year ago.

Shadow picks up almost anything too and eats it. A couple of weeks ago - in the middle of the night of course - she barfs up a plum pit. On our walk was a plum tree and some were scattered on the sidewalk. I didn't see her grab it but the evidence came up. I know she likes plums but from us they are always pitted.

Nightshade is part of the same family as tomatoes. Peppers are too. Actually all of these are in the nightshade family. Fun fact. Tomato plants, and pepper plants are poisonous.

When you go to yank that nightshade out, smell the plant. It smells like a tomato plant.

Yes, Friday was national dog day. Or little guys are at the doggy daycare/ spa together having a good time without us. Badger loves this place we takes him, and William will go any where Badger goes.

On our boat trip yesterday, we found that Badger had followed us along on our anniversary weekend mini vacation, only as he can do.

I've kept this post in the back of my mind since Larry mentioned it. I found a nightshade plant this morning growing in the hedges out front. No doubt the real deal. Now I know what to look for.

We have a few neighbors that walk their dogs not far from this. Thanks for the post.

    Yep, that's it.

It's easy to pull out. Go follow the vine to the ground, and yank. Keep the berries from falling on the ground to prevent future nightshades. The roots pull up nicely.

Good you guys found those plants and got rid of them. There are a lot of poisonous plants, but it is those with the temping fruit that we really have to watch out for. I also go around and destroy mushrooms. I just don't need any more trouble. Prevention is always the best way to deal with a problem.
Molly came in with two apples in her mouth. Our trees are dropping them like crazy. She likes apples. Who knows, that might be what she got into earlier this week. She did have diarrhea.
