And kittens. Nothing beats watching either puppy or kitten antics, fun and general love of life!

Although I have to live vicariously since the last kitten I had was in 2000 and the only puppy I ever had was in 1989. Had lots of dogs and cats but most pets I have had have been rescues that were at some stage between 2 and 8 years old.

I have had a drinkwell fountain for my cat's last 15 years, they do make a difference they are filtered, the big bowl and the running water entices them,, cats have much more problems with not drinking enough water than dogs.
The running water stays cooler than a bowl of water.
Some cats won't drink anything but running water, the shelter that I volunteered at had a sink n faucet that was on 24/7

Cats don't need nearly as much water as a dog (pound for pound) since they aren't panting and drooling all that moisture away. And if they eat canned food, they need very little supplemental water, whereas a cat that is on a dry kibble only diet needs more.

That being said, having plenty of fresh, clean water available at all times is always important (for any pet). Never had a cat that was attracted to running water for drinking - a couple liked to watch it flushing out a toilet bowl. Some liked cold water better than room temp. Had a couple that liked to lay in the bathroom sink (cooler and perfect shape for curling up in), but didn't want to have anything to do with the faucet.

I have had mine for a couple weeks now. Haven't seen a cat use it yet, but I keep it full of fresh water.

Yes, I have a really big pan filled with fresh water for the dogs and the cats. Until DaveGunter brought it up, I hadn't considered it. He is having issues with his cat and kidney problems. Better hydration is preventative. So I put up the fountain hoping to get ahead of the potential problem. I have six young cats and want to do what is best for them. I'll leave it set up for them. Who knows, they may move on to it.

Haven't had any dogs in a long time, and when I switched to a fountain from Bowl there was no other water available, they took to it just fine, I observed them drinking more water and other cats sense then, they just take to it, they love it, they come into the room where the fountain is, hear the water running, do a double take and go drink some water
