I heard buffalo meat carries a high price tag, that and its now in dog foods, either way I might guess there were other options, such as a farm. Will be interesting if there is any fallout in the media about this.

That calf could feed not only wolves, but foxes, coyotes, eagles, ravens and a host of small critters and other birds. It is very rare that a wolf/bear/coyote/cougar kill doesn't feed several other species too - no matter the size of what was taken down.

image.jpg image.jpg We've been watching this one for a week or two. His owner lives alone and had back surgery. Shes not supposed to bend over to do things like feed him or fill a water bowl. Depending on what her doctor says he might go back next week.

A cutie! Can you sense any depression or anxiety in a dog that away from its owner?

I don't know if it was separation or just his personality but he definitely had issues. He was also at another place for a while before he came to our house and who knows what went on there. He took to my daughter almost instantly, then my wife. It was 4-5 days before he would come near me. Now he's my best friend. His owner did come by and he was happy to see her but my wife said he just turned around and walked back into the house when she left. Weird in that it was kind of like 'nice to see you, this is my new place, good bye, see you around'. The Seeing Eye pups that we have from time to time vary also. Labs and goldens never seem to show anything. Shepards sometimes are a bit whiney. But once you feed them and take them for a walk they are fine. And when the people that are raising them pick them back up they hop into their car and don't look back.

Came across another dumped cat tonight, it appeared to be a kitten/adolescent. I thought I heard something and wrote it off as coyotes, nope, it was a very vocal kitty cat. Opened up my truck door and it jumped in, VERY skinny. Decided to take a look to see if it was a boy or girl, did not even get that far, her mamms are so full I didnt even need to look:doh::headbang::picard::heidi:. She is tiny, way to young to have kittens.

2 microwave scrambled eggs, dog kibble, bowl of water and and a box with cushion and beach towel, we'll see if she brings her babies back here or if she sticks around, I really like this lil gal. She is in my garage but I left the door 1' open from the bottom. I checked after 5 minutes assuming she noshed and went back to her kittens but she was still there picking out the scrambled eggs pieces from the dog kibble. Maybe I am wrong and she does have an owner but she is just so skinny and young.

WTF? She sought out my voice til I realized it was her an not coyotes barking, jumped in my truck and purred, same as the last two in 2014. Duh, raised in a house with human, likely a woman. I'd like to bring her in but I fear she has kittens somewhere and needs to get back to them.

We shall see. Either I gave the lil gal a nice deed or she will become my pet;)

Just went to check, she is gone, here is the box tote I set up. Interesting all the scrambled eggs are gone but dog kibble is still there, maybe she does have an owner.....

You are so good WW! Unbelievable that she would actually jump in your truck (on yes, just to leave paw prints - LOL)

I've had cats and dogs thru most of my life and not one of the cats would touch the dog kibble. The dogs were always fed on the floor, so access was easy but they would sniff and walk away. Something about their sense of smell not being as strong (and probably that there is so much grain/vegetables/fiber in most dog foods, and not much protein compared to what cats need). If she comes back, try canned tuna or chop up a bit of cooked chicken. Of course, the egg is good too - you don't even need to cook it - I've had several who wouldn't touch cooked egg, but loved a raw, beaten egg.

I passed a stray on the way to fishing the other night. Stupid thing never even left the roadway, just watched me go by as if it wanted something.

On the return trip, there was the same cat only closer to the house and heading the same way. Reacted the same way; never left the roadway, just waited and watched me go by as if it wanted something....a handout?

I'm thinking it was a drop off.

Interesting, I have not seen that cat again but most the kibble is gone now.

Looks like a nice older nautique.

About 10 years ago when I could make a fist without saying owwie..I use to wakeboard and wake skate. We had a super air nautique team 210 boat.

Yep, it's a 78 Martinique . I stripped it down to the hull, and re engineered the interior. I still itch from all that fiberglass. ;)

It's got a single captain's chair for the driver and a rear facing seat for the passenger. You can see the back seat. Tricolor vinyl is throughout, and grey marine carpet. I put gt40p heads an edelbrock performer intake, and a few other goodies on the 351windsor, with an acme 4 blade CNC prop. There's not a lot of room despite being 19', but it's fun. I've had 8 skiers up behind it when the motor was stock at 240 hp. It's now at least 300 hp.

    The dogs love it. ;)

So the young mama kitty has been eating every night though too late for us to see her. I was hoping she would bring her kittens back to the tote/bed I set up for her but it has not happened. I figure either she has a home here somewhere, or more likely she was dumped after the weather turned nice and she is secure with the location she has her kittens hidden (lots of abandoned homes around here). We might pick up some cat food tomorrow, we shall see ;) The flip side of this fun story is that there are now mouse droppings in the bed I made her in the garage, not fun.
