a sprinkle of salt or a spray of 1 part ammonia and 5 parts water will have that slug turning inside out, literally. That's how I control them in my garden.

The only thing it "may" do is give them the $#!TS! I don't believe it will hurt them, Old Dozer used to munch on them from time to time, Didn't seem to bother him.

WE ALMOST LOST AUGIE TODAY! Holy mackerel we had a close call today. We were working on the beehives in the yard and the dogs were keeping us company. The neighbor came down the lane in his truck (F250) so Augie went chasing after him. Unfortunately, his leash was on him and got caught up in the truck tire and pulled him under the tire. By the time the neighbor stopped, he was pinned under the wheel. He was literally inches from being crushed and/or strangled to death. After a trip to the emergency vet, it turns out he was choked pretty hard. He's got bleeding under the white's of his eyes (subconjunctival hemorrhages - will heal and don't harm his vision), but THANKFULLY, he had no other serious injuries, X-rays were negative, and we were able to take him home with us tonight with some pain relief, steroids and eye drops. PHEW! Now just rest and heal. ..[IMG]

I'm also thankful that your neighbor hit the brakes and won't have a heavier burden of guilt on his shoulders....
As for Augie's near brush- Miracles are evident upon all that we love.....:)

Oh my, that made my stomach turn just thinking about it. I've seen a dog get under a wheel. We had a devoted pup who ran under the wheel when my wife was driving in. It was horrid.

I bet he'll associate the pain with chasing vehicles, no? Quite the learning experience.

    Glad he's OK.
