That sucks, but pups are pretty rugged, especially Chessies. Hope all goes well...................

This is horrible! Xrays showed a poss blockage, looking at the xrays myself, I saw the forein object, the fecal matter behind it, and the area filled with gas. Of couse my main concern is my baby girl, holding back tears...... already between the 3 xrays and the ultra sound, I forked out over 400bucks. Then the estimate showed 1700 low end, up to 2800 high end, just to do blood work, cathaterize her, and start iv's (she is very dehydrated) If the ultrasound shows it may pass, then great, but the vet said there is more chance she'll need surgery. Total with surgery up to 4k! I had to call Dawn at work, that wasn't good. I believe God works in our lives and looks out for our loved ones, even our furry friends. Any thoughts and prayers our way would be appreciated. I hope our baby girl does ok!:(

So sorry to hear this. Yes, they are just like little kids in our minds. That is a tough decision that can only be made by you guys. Certainly will pray on our end that this turns out for the better............ Your "family" here on FHC is here to rely on for support. Good luck.................

Right where I want to be.
WS, just know that we're here to listen and support.
Puppies are definitely pretty resilient. Hopefully this will pass, but if you decide to do the surgery, I think she'll be fine.

    Thanks guys.......

The dr called a few minutes ago, they have another ortho surgery going on and cannot do Maples intestinal surgury at the same time for sanitation purposes until around 5. This buys her some time to get another ultrasound to see if the object has moved at all. The dr said it is likely stuck there, but will call me with the finding prior to surgury, which I have okayed if the ultrasound shows no movement. She will be prepped for surgury in the meantime and is currently getting fluids via IV.

    Ill keep you all posted........

I am so sorry to hear about Maple. You are doing everything you can for her. Just like kids, they get into anything and every thing. The good thing is that you are able to help her.

I stayed up with her until 3 a.m. She wouldnt sleep right and was vomiting a lot. Even getting a drink, would get sick not long after. Its amazing how fast things progress. By them time I left the animal hospital around noon, it had been around 12 hrs or so since she had a decent drink. She was not the dog I know when I left. Growling a little at the vet, but then licking as an apology. Shes never done that before. Sitting here waiting is killing me. Ive done any housework that needed to get done, lit a fire (its blowing 50+mph) Cleaned up some twigs outside, but left her poo be.

Chessies need to be around their "pack" They are very vocal to begin with. They will sit there and talk to you, not by barking though. Poor girl is probably so frightened.

Thanks a lot for that warning savemoney. Peanutbutter is a method we use for medication. We will certainly check out the ingredients!

    DaveGunter- thank you!

We just got confirmation that the second ultrasound did not show any signs of the object moving. She'll be in surgery around 5:15. I have also decided to get her spayed now instead of waiting until her first heat since she's going under the knife anyway, and the doctor agreed to do it if everything runs smoothly. Boy am I worried here!!!

I'm sure she is in good hands, I would guess that Vets do more stomach surgeries than any others, so they get a lot of practice
