If we :)(okay, okay. Mostly my wife.) didn't vacuum this living room carpet 3 times a week we would be in hair and dirt up to our ankles by now!

We live in a world of sand.......and dog hair.
We had vinyl put down a few years ago and we also tiled the stove room to make it easier to clean. One of us sweeps the floors every day, and sometimes the other one does it later in the day.
I'm surprised we still have a walkway, since it sure seems like all that sand has come into the house many times over.
Sand and dog hair, dog hair and sand,
In this house, they go hand in hand.

Same here, only add mud. No sidewalks, lawn or driveway. Ummmm. Yikes.

I built these dog stairs up to a basement window several years ago after we rescued these dogs. Whenever conditions are muddy, snowy, etc. we let the dogs in down here. They then have to come down the stairs and across the basement floor to the stairs that lead up to the living room. Where about half way up there is a landing and a GATE. They then have to stop and wait until we let them up. First they stay there for about 10-15 minutes until they have settled a bit. Their food and water is there as well. This has reduced the amount of dirt/mud/snow that makes it to the main floor of the house by about 95%!

Oh, I forgot the mud, :hair: although yours sounds worse. Mudapalooza.
Lots o' fun when they decide to go off into the woods and into the swamp. It's like it's more than just mud......kinda' super mud.
Sooo glad we haven't had a skunking issue, yet. I feel for ya'.

Nice lookin lab, Larry, she looks fit. Sometimes I feel bad for my lab mix, she's got the bottomless pit Lab stomach trait, must suck to never feel full.
