If it wasn't for the fact that taking pics of firewood was mandatory here, I'd have chucked our camera out into the woods long ago Woodwidow I miss 1/2 of Giz's pics every time cuz she rarely stops. Firewood usually stands still...

Unfortunately no pics, but Maple did amazing working the fields for birds today! For 5 1/2 months old, I think I have a great hunting buddy. Today was her first official field work. First time exposed to gun fire standing within feet to me (about 20 yrs a few weeks ago) She turned and looked at me, somewhat startled, but the instinctual retrieve took over, following the bird. Afterwards, we shot clays, around 200 total between 4 of us. Not an issue what so ever with gunfire. She was extremely well behaved being so young. Folowing commands, with very minimal need for the e collar, and whistle and verbal commands worked well. The only thing that was a struggle was when she found a dead pheasant, and ate it. Hopeing no health issues with that.

Loon,Hartz Ultra Guard Collars has more poor reviews than good.
I use Advantix liquid. but if you want a collar, this one has good reviews:Flea and Tick Products: Preventic Tick Collar for Dogs. I know you have a cat, so you will want to be careful not to get one that will kill you cat also.
with the Advantix, it is toxic to cats, so I have to put it on the dog and wait until it is dry before the dog comes in contact with the cats. My cats love to play with one of my dogs so I really have to be careful. I have 6 very long haired cats so I have to take every precaution to keep fleas out. We haven't had fleas here in years, but we do get ticks from the dogs if I'm not staying on top of keeping their protection current.
There is also a product the dog eats that protect him. I tried it, but it is very costly and it works after being bitten where the drops work to kill the bugs on contact.
