Our first dog died young, my daughter was 3 and aside from not telling her about euthanasia, I was as honest as possible. Lots of tears that day, I was strong up until I walked in the door and she said "where's Layla?" Instant streams down the ole' cheeks.

Death is part of life, I remember going to my grandmother's wake & funeral at 6 years old. Kids are smart, the sooner they understand it the better in my opinion.

Mine does that @ times because if he doesn't 1/2 of what he laps up runs out the side of his chops due to the shape of his head. Comical to say the least............................

My oldest daughter was 6 when we decided to euthanize our last Greyhound. It was her first experience with the death of something close to her. We were just as open and honest about it as possible. She took it very hard. She asked to not have to go to school that day, so I stayed home with her. She wrote a little poem about the dog and put it behind a framed picture of the dog, and stuck it to the refigerator door, it is still there.

That made me feel sad, reminded me of my past experiences loosing one of my friends.

Indeed, resist. Those pups will find good homes here in Maine. Heck, dogs are brought in my the busloads from shelters outside the state. Those pups are going to be huge. Both those breeds require a lot of training from their master.

I don't know if mine have their nose in the water, but I do know they make one heck of a mess. I have to have their water bowl in a boot tray to keep the slobbered water off the floor.
