Found a pic of Giz and our son's Yukon up at the cabin a few years ago. They're best buds... she never barks when she's with him... and he never barks... ahhhhhhhhh ... ;)

Saucy had a scheduled castration (neutered) today and was the first patient this morning. Finally by early this afternoon the animal hospital called and said all went well! Phewww! I'll tell ya, the worry we feel when our pets go under the knife! :) Saucy is no less a man imo, lol, and will be on some pain meds for a few days. No activity except short walks. Absolutely no rough housing with Maple, so they will stay separated unless they are supervised.

We also setup a first time appointment for Maple as well just prior to picking Saucy up. Things went well. Her belly button is currently an "outie" so the vet will keep an eye on that, but if it doesn't flatten out, they will run a quick stitch during her spaying in another 4-5 months. This vet visit really tired her out. (Don't mind the chewed up corner of the couch!)

"Saucy is no less a man imo, lol" ... Gizzy isn't either WS. She humps every pillow in the house any chance she gets. I'm calling it the Jenner Effect ... she self-identifies with male dogs... o_O:D

Right where I want to be.
All our dogs get spayed/neutered, unless there's a plan to breed.
We may be done with that though.
Humping has a lot to do with dominance, and not just procreation. Our females do it too.

Going back a few posts re: the flea/tick/pterodactyl treatment, we've been using the Advantix II for quite a while with good success.
I still do a tick check EVERY TIME the dogs come back in the house. It's been weird this year, as I've only found about 5 on 2 of the dogs, one dead on the floor (probably a hitchhiker), and wife found one on her shoulder crawling around.
A lady we know who lives just a few miles south says she found 6 on her on ONE trip into the woods. I've found a couple on sis-in-laws dog, but she doesn't use anything but vinegar.
Hate to tell her.......dat ain't workin'.
Anything other than a topical allows the dog to be bitten before the bug gets the death penalty. Seems like that's kinda' like closing the barn door after the horses are in the next county.
I start the treatment April 1st, and don't stop until maybe Oct.

We pulled a tick off Giz last week after we went down toward the coast. It was engorged. She's fine, thankfully. Man, I really hate ticks. Had an opposite deal this morning down in the woods. It was the perfect conditions for skeeters... they usually will carry me off this time of the year. 4 trips down, not one single skeeter. I'll take it... and order 100 more years of it please...

    Personally, I'd settle for 20 years of that.............maybe 25.
    Sorry for likin' that.

Ditto on the humping as a display of dominance. Our littlest dog the Jack-Beagle is a female and humps the puppies constantly whenever they are playing.

I think I'll try the oral flea and tick chewable medicine next year. I've heard precautions against using it in animals with seizure history. Willow our Lab-Beagle would have a moderate seizure about once a month when she was younger. I switched to a high quality dry kibble and the seizures stopped, so I think she might be OK with the Med.

What are scabbies? I have heard the word before, never seen it. Watching a show today a dog had them. Googled it more than once and all I find is tiny pest that feeds on skin, and magnified pictures.
