I'm finding live ticks, a couple that I must have missed for several days on the nightly tick check were engorged.

I bought Bio-Spot, supposed to be the same as one of those two, (Frontline or Advantix) I don't remember now. Those two use two different approaches based on how the chemical is supposed to kill the tick. I asked my vet about it, he said either approach should work. He actually recommended the oral medication. We had good results with Bio-Spot riding our house of fleas the year before, so I went with it again. Several ticks per month on each of five dogs tells me it's not working. I'm thinking of getting some collars to add for the rest of this year.

Not sure this interests you but I thought I would mention just incase. I recently bought some mosquito spray, supposed to last 6 weeks, it says its safe to use on dogs. NOT cats, but safe for dogs. Says ticks die on contact with it. Permethrin.

Used Frontline for years, but for the past two years, Frontline failed to control fleas. One of our vets continued to recommend Frontline, another said to switch to Advantix for the dogs and Advantage for the cats. I didn't want to because I have a supply of the Frontline. Well, the flea issue became too much. I switched. In 3 weeks the fleas were no longer. Out cats don't go out so tic meds aren't so important for them. I check the dogs every night. I have found some ticks hitch hiking. It is a never ending battle. Takes more than medication to control this issue. I think one of our worst issues was carpets. They are magnets for problems.

We have had 4 Labs over the last 21 years. We've used Frontline AND K9 Advantix And lyme disease shots for all of them.
We have found the occasional tick but nothing else. Ticks have been a real problem here in Pa for quite a few years.

We haven't had any fleas yet. We usually only give the Meds for the spring, summer and fall.
This is working very well for us and yes it is expensive, but...the idea of an infestation is enough for me.
We live in the woods here. Many wild animals around the house

We grew up in a wooded area.
Wife grew up on a 400 acre farm that was 3/4 or more wooded. There was no way we could do city living. :handshake:

http://firewoodhoardersclub.com/forums/threads/stop-mosquitos-at-door.12688/ Check out this thread there are a few suggestions :) Some contributors use the concentrated bottles, I found a deal on those too and have an 8oz concentrate for next spring.

    Here is what I bought

It had great packaging and 2 day delivery to my door.

I think I also read some flea collars use the same chemical, why not just spray the dog collar and let it dry?
