Our old one died a few months ago, so we caught this smaller R2D2 on sale. Did a great job cleaning out the stove. 0402230810.jpg

0403231039.jpg Got a load 14-16" hickory from the odd size tree service cut hickory trees we got earlier, going on a road trip today to deliver and meet some other friends

Along with the pine we cut on A day off, another tree job
we decided to clean up the pine logs the loggers left on our place in Dec, while it's still good. That 2nd load was....:confused:...got it about 3/4 loaded, started to rain. Finished loading it, parked the tractor. Had to stop by the house and got stuck...:headbang::headbang:... 0413231425.jpg
Walked back to get the tractor and finally got the truck/trailer out..:picard::picard:
Made it to the mill and dumped it... 0413231307.jpg
Didn't pull as heavy as the 1st load, but weighed more...:yes:...
    0413231554b.jpg
We also started processing some pecan... 0413230854.jpg
It has some pretty heartwood... 0413230857.jpg
    And this split nicely... 0413230904.jpg
Got about a 1/3 cord done so far... 0413231647.jpg
Trying a new idea...over time the plastic pallets begin to sag under the weight of the wood. We had bought a bundle of cull decking boards recently, so I ripped a couple down to 2 3/4" strips, spaced them about 12" apart, and stacked the 16" splits on them...see if that helps distribute the weight. 0412230926_HDR.jpg
    Roof will be added soon.

Very nice! Not used to seeing you stack "outside" rather than a shed.

About out of shed space, got about 5 cords of room left for more oak. Going to put a top on these soon.

We enjoyed Friday night so much, we did it again on Saturday night.
We finished cutting up the newest pecan we had... 0415232051.jpg
And got most of it split and stacked 0415232246_HDR.jpg
We have these pieces left, plus the cutoffs to make chunks 0415232245_HDR.jpg
I started to cut this knot off,..glad I took another look... 33907.jpeg
Got a nice supply of smoker wood drying now. Cherry on the left, pecan on the right. Wish pecan smelled as good as cherry...lol...it smells like a sweaty horse... 0415232246a_HDR.jpg

Never smelled sweaty horse. Ill take your word for it. If you ever get a chance take a whiff of BL bark when its sitting for a bit and comes off. Putrid stuff.

Monster round! Must be so much nicer to simply pull a lever than it was to wrestle those up the ramp. I'm jelly. Those splits are money too.:dex:

Yes sir, it's nice, cost more though...the price of progress...
The ramps weren't bad, big improvement over the old way.

I had Monday off between shift change, so we decided to go dig out another load of leftover pine logs for the chip mill. Better to get a few bucks for it instead of letting it rot.
Found some bonus logs too, long log is cherry, other is pine 0417230911_HDR.jpg
Then we found 2 logs from a huge pine they left:headbang:, but $$ in our pocket. This one was 27" dia and 18' long. Kubota barely pulled it out. 0417230930.jpg
Cut it to 12.5', it was still heavy. Had to load one end on the trailer 0417230937_HDR.jpg
Then push it on from the other end 0417230938_HDR.jpg
Then we got the other log from that tree...it was 22" dia and 15' long. The XS4910 is still getting the call. I love that saw... 0417230943.jpg
Loaded it the same way... 0417230952b_HDR.jpg
Found more pine to fill out the load 0417231120_HDR.jpg
    0417231134.jpg
The F150 pulled it good and lift dumped it. It didn't pull this heavy... 0417231246.jpg
Since we had the trailer in town, we picked up some PT lumber and got frames built and roof put on the cooking wood... buZZsaw BRAD 0417231918a_HDR.jpg
Got the metal on this one Tues morning... 0418231107_HDR.jpg
    Maybe it last awhile...

Got back to oak processing this week...
Had this fat 29"×36" round to start with 0424232029.jpg
The 3 long logs from another job got processed too. 34163.jpeg
Blue Samson split one of the big rounds with the 4 way. It didn't want the 2nd one, had a knot in it. After wrestling with both of them big boys, I don't want 1 that size whole on Blue Samson either...
So, the XS362 wanted a taste of oak...noodled it in quarters...:saw:
    Samson liked that... 34245.jpeg
The other big rounds will be broken down with the 30 ton County Line, got to show it some love too.

In true buZZsaw BRAD fashion, I kept my eyes open at work. As I was walking around, checking my equipment, I saw the big shipping crate that had been dismantled. Had some nice lumber in it. Got these 8 - 2x4x8's, plus some shorter 2x4's and 2x6's. Hope to get the base, its 4x8 and framed with 2x6's 0427231908.jpg

Nice grab Jeff. Those are real nice. That stuff always good to have around when you hoard as much as we do. We cannot have enough log racks and shed can we.

Just finishing a deck job and have some of the decking and framing to take after her son grabs what he wants. Another big shed build in the works for bundle wood. Have most of the material...all scrounged.
