Do you haul it in your dump trailer, or do you have a flat bed? I have both, but my dump would be too small for my tractor I think. I need to get a set of forks for my tractor.
We have both types. Like this morning, loaded tractor on dump trailer to get the wood, took flat bed to bring it back home. Tractor and dump trailer is a bit heavy, but manageable. How big is your tractor and dump trailer. Our dump is a 7x12, it would haul tractor fine, but can't shut the doors with the counterweight on...just use a bungee cord to hold them shut.
This was today with dump trailer getting almost full. Bed bolts seem tight, will have to check it out.
My dump is also 7x12, but not sure about loading it on the dump. Would make my arse pucker! Would have to make multiple trips anyway I guess. Much easier to load it on the car trailer.
I have lots of truck to pull whatever I need. 2003 F250 with 7.3L, and my wifes truck, a 1997 F250 with 7.3L wither will haul anything I currently own loaded. I almost got a 14' dump trailer, but knew I would want to load the tractor on it and decided that may not be for me. My dump trailer will hold it as it only weight about 3300lbs and the trailer is 10k GVRW.
Finished up at the Hancock County honey hole yesterday. Got 2 dead hickories and a red oak, and a couple pieces of white oak. One of the nice red oak logs . Got 43' of logs off the dead oak. It was on the steep hill with the rocks.
Made mine do the same the first time...lol...learned to make sure it was in 4 wheel drive, and go slow...and the ramps are lined up straight...
OAK, OAK, OAK... HICKORY....OAK, OAK, OAK....Maybe you can find some on the way to/from the GTG this weekend.
Loaded car going up, driving back in the dark. Plus those northern folk don't leave wood lying by the side of the road!

We wound up hauling 7 dump trailer loads from there, mostly red and white oak, with some hickory on the last load. Never can tell when another honey hole will show up. Sometimes it's just 1 or 2 trees. Do have another couple trees to look at in the same area we we're Monday.
We took advantage of a really cool June day, low 70's and misty this morning. Put a pile of oak and hickory logs on the cutting sled and got them bucked up. The standing dead red oak, made some pretty wood. 2nd pile to finish processing. These were to big to pick up whole. Starting on the last row in the big shed now.
looking good T.Jeff Veal Dontcha love how easy that oak splits? Give me red oak any day! When that big shed is full are you done? Cool day here, id like to go cutting but it is raining. I dont blame you for taking advantage of it after seeing the heat youve been working in.
No sir, won't be done. We still have 4 full cord racks to fill, plus we have pallets and metal roof panels to build several more. We've got to much wood going bad to stop...
Guess never thought about it. If we had a narrow bucket and thumb to securely hold the log, might be good. I would probably hit the bucket or fork with the saw...lol...I'm used to running a 25" bar, so I can reach the ground without bending too much. I might give it a try though. I will probably wind up with a piece in the middle the will fall and need cutting.
