What happened to the root ball of that thing? You got a looot of work ahead of you. Sorry to hear the other gentleman didn't make.
Finally got back to the woodyard for a few hours Tuesday and Wednesday night after work. I don't like the shorter days, but that's what lights are for...lol Had to get cords and lights set up Tuesday, managed to get a few rounds split by 8:15. My hunny had that stacked when I got home Wednesday evening. We finished up these rounds Between the 2 evenings, we almost have a face cord done Found a few more curly pieces for my friend to make pens. Maybe we can cut some more rounds and finish that row tonight. Edit...got home and 2 of our grandsons were here. Soon as I walked in, the 3 yr old put in an order for my cheese grits... The woodpile will wait...
Exactly. Soon it will be 4:30 and full dark. I need to get some lights on my shed. The ones you have, are they wired, or solar? I'm thinking solar powered motion sensor LEDs will work great as I don't have power run to the shed, v and don't plan on it. I've been running extension cords down there while running saws for finishing the shed, but that's it. That gum you have looks like a real PITA to split. I'm glad there's none around here. Isn't it gratifying filling the sheds with split wood?
The ones in the big shed are hanging work lights with reflectors. I have them hanging on screws, with small extension cord ran down the side wall. Then I just plug in to regular extension cord. The other sheds, I use clamp on work lights, move from shed to shed.
Had a few days off, so we added to our hickory stash. The friend that gave us the smaller hickory back in the summer had a few bigger ones to take down. We got there late Tuesday morning. Started with 4 trees to drop. Got a little push from John. Do you think these logs were heavy? Got these 2 loads Tuesday We went back Wednesday, cleaned up the rest. He then added another hickory and a red oak to the fun. Got these 2 loads that day. Finished the job Thursday morning. Had almost another full load. He has a small farm with cows and a couple horses. Miz Carol made a friend with Cherokee.
Tuesday night after working with the hickory, we split enough oak to finish the 2nd row in this rack. Done by 8:30.
I know it took me a little time to drop this one, but he wanted to make sure the little pine wasn't damaged. His mama had planted it. It had some back and left side lean/ limb weight. That hickory is hard, especially on the angle face cut. Bore cut each one, saved the barber chairs for the hair cuts.
