No kidding, someone I know managed to get hers down to 1.35 a gallon?!? With the grocery rewards though. It was probably at about 2.35 or so. Making a world of difference! Your work is amazing brother! I’m lagging behind for sure but I’m hopping from work at home to tending to my daughter and gardening these days so it’s a bit of everything. Hope you’re well!
That’s awesome Jeff! Isn’t it amazing how much wood a tree like that can yield! Never ceases to amaze me I’d drive that far for a good tree like that even if I was loading!
Hey brother, good to hear from ya again. Life is busy for us both...lol... I'm still having to come in to work my 12 hr shifts, grass cutting has picked up a good bit, helped our son get a new garden established and about half planted so far, got the materials to help him install a metal roof on his house, got some more storm damage trees in the county to clean up, my hunny is helping alot with the new grandson, I've worked a good bit solo on the woodyard. But one day at a time, making some progress. Hope you stay healthy and blessed as well, may your garden be bountiful.
We finished hauling to big oak home yesterday by lunch, swapped trailers and drove 65 miles over to Macon to pick up materials for our son's roof, came by Milledgeville Lowe's and got 50 landscape timbers for his new flower beds. Glad to see home last night...lol ...glad gas was $1.49/gal. Filled up after 1st load yesterday, had 1/4 tank this morning...... 1st load yesterday, 3rd total off the tree. When I hit that hollow section, I thought is was hollow all the way down, I was wrong. Did find something interesting in the hollow. Glad they had been gone for awhile. A huge honey bee hive and been there. A really nice PI vine was on the side of the tree. Don't it make you itch, just looking at it......Im thankful it doesn't bother me much 2nd load, 4th total from that tree. Had a few smaller pieces and 2 trunk sections. His loader barely picked up the 6' butt section. He had 2 older logs he gave us too. That load pulled heavy. The staging area with what we hauled, 1 load Monday, 2 Wed, 2 Thursday.
That was quite a tree, and quite a day! Good thing all the tree and materials hauling got done, now you can chip away at things. That is one big oak butt!
It was a great score,missed the barb wire just below that last cut. I'll have to measure it, probably close to 34-36" like the other big tree we recently got. It was a tall tree.
Wow what an interesting prize inside with the hive! Sugarbug87 got a look at that and was her response. I’m supposing the hive was vacated long before the cuts were made? I might have to get some steroids just looking at that PI section! We have lots here as well, I kill it on all my neighbors trees. I have reacted to it severely since I was a toddler. Excellent work recently, impressive! Take care down in Goat Town!
That bees nest was cool. Never have encountered one before and hope i never do...well one thats active. Some impressive sized logs. Thatll keep you going for a while. How much more from the score?
We got 4 dump trailer loads from that tree. That was the only one he had down at the moment. He did have 2 older oak logs he loaded as well.
