Is available from Stihl. IIRC it also fits the 362? If you want I can look up the PN It also comes with a bit different part for under the clutch cover to replace the one that’s there due to the difference in depth. Edit: The PN as follows: Clutch Cover 1138-648-0400 or 1122-640-1711 Brake cover 1140-021-1100 Chip Deflector 1138-656-1500 Best to check with your (knowledgeable) Stihl dealer as I had to order the parts twice because my dealer is basically worthless
I think mine is OEM, wasn't included with saw stock. Only thing I hate is no captive nuts on it and the full wrap handle on mine gets in the way when loosening them. Nothing worse than losing one of your nuts.
yes you’re right and I realized after I had sent the information to T Jeff that I forgot to mention that. It’s a non issue for me as this is the only saw I’ve ever had with captive “nuts”. I don’t miss the feature at all though. I’ve been running a saw for a fair number of years at 74 years old now and I’ve lost a whopping total of 1
I get used to having the captives on a few other of my saws. Same goes for the switch. On the newer mtronic ones it will automatically go back to start when turned off and all you need to do is pull the rope. My 361 doesn't do that and I sometimes forget when I'm using it. Ill pull the rope several times and it wont start. Ill be cursing up a storm at it until I realized its in the "off" position and feel like a dumb a$$ after! Thinking I've lost 2-3 in 40 years.
buZZsaw BRAD Agee, It is a learning curve with the Mtronic. My 400 is the only one with it and rather than every move being more or less automatic from muscle memory I have to think about the start/stop procedure. I don’t really use this saw often. Only pull it out when felling or bucking bigger wood
I read somewhere to let it return to idle before turning it off as it "remembers" what the carb was running at when shut off. Don't know if true or not but I try to do that when using one.
Making a little progress this week, since I'm working 6AM-6PM shift. Work a couple hours at a time. We haven't set up the lights yet...lol. We got the heartwood from the 4 logs on the previous post split into a tote... The sapwood that was a little punky or knotty pieces went into the deer camp pile... We had 3 bigger short logs and 1 longer log left from that trailer load, got those bucked and split enough to finish tote... Used the XS2511T to mark them 18"... Then the XS400 did the slicing... Finished tote About dark now, so we moved another trailer load of oak logs from mom's yard to the woodyard for processing
Didn't get started on the woodyard till about 7:30 last night, worked by myself. Got the 10 rounds from post #2192 above split, sorted and stacked. Nearly all is nice heartwood, a few pieces with solid sapwood are included. Sapwood pieces that felt light for their size went to deer camp pile.
We prepped a couple more totes... This one had a big hole in the cap and it was stuck on the threads...good candidate for another chunk tote... This tote has the round tubing, it doesn't work well with the hinges and latches we make, so we just cut the opening and use it for deer camp firepit wood. Got it full and put in storage...
