# 2 is down. One tag left. He rolled in a creek after the shot and flopped around so he is a wet mess. 9" beard and 1" spurs. I listened by my barn in the woods. One bird started gobbling just before legal light. He was across the creek next to a field edge. I worked my way across the creek and was looking for a spot to set up when a bird, I could tell it was a gobbler flushed above me and flew a couple hundred yards down the creek. It wasn't the same bird that had been gobbling. So I kept setting up and sure enough the other bird gobbled while I was setting out my decoy. Then the bird I flushed gobbled down the creek. And I made a few calls and scratched the leaves and both birds responded. The closer bird flew down first and gobbled on the ground and then I saw the further bird sail down in the direction of the first bird. I called and scratched the ground again and nothing. A few minutes passed and I saw first one then a second bird strutting through the trees about 80 yards off. I made a couple light calls and that got them fired up, although they didn't gobble, but they came in closer strutting and spitting. When they cleared some brush they were at 40 yards and both seemed about equal so I shot the lead bird and he flopped down the hill into the creek.
Awesome! I went out again this morning and didn't have anything going at the first place but had one going goo at the second farm. Its a great place to hunt and we can hunt all day starting Monday so my wife wants to go out Monday evening. Ill be staying out of there till she can go so hopefully she can get a bird too.
