Good choice on the MS400. I was gonna recommend that or the 462. If you really want to cut some wood, let huskihl put some Xtra sausage in it.
I think he has a few videos on his channel of some he's done.

After I took care of a few things in the Big City this morning, I found an old file for sharpening chains. It was smaller than I need for this chain, but I touched it up with it anyway. Time to order the right size file. I watched a good video on YouTube last night that I thought was well done.

I usually bring my chains to a sharpening guy about 20 minutes from me. Drop them off and pick them back up when he is done. I could never seem to get my chains as sharp as he did. Now I’m going to do it myself. Practice, practice, practice should bring good results, and save me some $. After spending over $1200 on saw :loco: , and paraphernalia, it’s time to start saving some $! :)

I looked at those but I couldn’t see one that had the 13/64” file. ?

So, I ordered one of these….$35

Really think you will love your new 400 the more you use it! One thing that I found is that letting it idle for a bit after cutting and before shut down seems to help with the system “learn” it’s most appropriate settings. YMMV

I use those too. I like them. I did find I need to remove the raker file because I push down to hard and get the chains to aggressive. I use west Coast saws progressive raker plates and do them separately from the 2in1 Sharpener.

Don’t use it every time with the flat file in it.

your height gauges will get too low and the chain will get very aggressive.

mine are now at 0.030” and should be at 0.025”.

That should work great. Just follow the angle guide marks. We have 1 for .325. Makes a good sharp chain

Its rather simple once you get the hang of it. You can sharpen right on the bar or take it off the saw and put in a vise. More control that way. Be sure to lower the rakers (depth gauges) every now and then. Ive been using a simple filing guide for years and it does the trick.

I sharpened on the bar this morning after watching that video last evening. Brought the chain right back to cruiser mode!:saw:

 Cool! A quick touch up every now and then really makes a difference. Of course that is until you hit a nial of screw in a log. :headbang:  :hair:
