The young man who helped me pick out a saw explained that they had some problems with the earlier M-Tronic system. But that they have corrected that. I don’t know anything about them because this is my first saw with it. I did own a Stihl Farm Boss in the past. That was a good saw too.

Got 400 for my brother barely used from EODMSgt; I have a 462; that saw5; the 400 straight out cuts!!
I didn’t use it until I was home! BUT I trusted Well Seasoned.. he said it was good!
Ran a Stihl 25 inch light bar in sugar maple for 2 hours and got stronger!!

my 462 might need some XS just so it knows I’m the big brother.

Go with the 400 and never look back. Pricey at $1000 :makeitrain"but a great piece of equipment. Mine starts with a 20" bar and can run 25&28" if need be. I have bigger CC saws for those bars.

You are going to be one happy cutter. Enjoy and be sure to post lots of pics. Several of my Stihls have the mtronic carbs and i love it. Not a fan of adjusting carbs as it runs worse when i do.

I think about that saw often and have contemplated getting one. I wonder how fast the technology will evolve and the price to come down?

Well, you know what they say - Happy Husband, Happy life. He deserved it and has put it to good use. It is a saw that even I can run if I have to.

Everything on that list will run a 24” with no issues except for the 251. Some will obviously cut faster than others. My vote would be the 362 or 400 as a great all around firewood saw
