31% I was expecting mid 20%, But proof again the only way to get seasoned wood <20% moisture is split and stacked!!!
That's better than I expected. I've never stored rounds. Typically water will squeeze out around the splitter wedge of the lower rounds of a looong dead standing oak. 50% MC. At least in my area.
I tell my friends that if we keep our firewood dry, it will last just as long as the wood furniture in the house lasts, a very long time.
Perfect day, deer hunting all morning, cut wood around lunch and now back in the deer woods. Only problem is I hope I can keep my man card as I passed up this white oak along with a couple dozen just like it.
There's something wrong with you. I hope someone with some sense got them. True hoarders don't pass up white oak rounds. Unless they weren't free. In which case there's more to this fish-that-got-away tall tale.
I would guess there is still 100 full cord left to cut if I wanted it all, I can load up to 18-20" rounds without to much difficulty once it gets in the >24" range there is so much that's easier to handle I leave it alone unless I'm feeling real frisky!
Im working on 3+ years ahead partially because I can't stand to see the wood rot. Picked up some old tin to top cover with today so Ill be in gooder shape soon. Handsonautotech Come on out, usda may be a little grumpy about it.
