Tell the neighbor and anyone else for that matter to stay away from stuff that's down even if it's not burning or making noise it's not always dead! It can also track out through other stuff depending on where it's laying like fences and such so best to keep distance and call it in. Had to yell at a sheriff yesterday for almost pulling stuff out of the road, me a 30 year old whipper snapper :D but he'd have been a lot more pizzed or worse than he was had I not yelled.

    Calm now
Power was back on at 3am
Where I live is on the Lake Erie plateau 20 miles inland and 1000' up . We're pretty used high winds. Imagine winds coming across lake and getting funneled up 1000' in less than 10 land miles.
Last nite it was a little unnerving.
Haven't been out to check for damage yet. Slept in cuz I was up most of nite. Work today could be interesting

I saw some of the pictures from your area, if you only lost some shingles that is good from what I saw.

We never lost power but it seemed places North,East,South and West of us did. The power company has put a bunch of money into trimming around the lines and new poles in this area so that helped some.

The old camera went out for repairs today so I should be hearing from the company next week on how much it will cost to fix.

Well be prepared. Most times I've been near Dodge City the winds have been terrible and usually from south to north. Hope you have a good time.

It does! We have not made a run to the store; we are prepared mostly. But I did make a run to the gas station for more gas for generator. Not sure if we will have enough until power is restored or not but probably not. I'll have to make a run again late tomorrow or Saturday most likely. But we are doing fine here and staying warm. Did make an invite to one party to stay the night if they did not get heat going. They did not show so guess all is well there. I also notified neighbors about when power is to be restored. Most were shocked to know no power for 3+ days!

Wow, I feel for those who got hit worse than we did. This is a real mess.

On the bright side, so far I see no damage here! One of the good things about living in the woods which does protect you somewhat from the wind. Also, when we cut off all those pines south of the house but left a strip of several rows as a wind break has paid dividends! Most of the worst of the wind was coming from the SW but later switched to W then NW. Usually our worst winds come from SW.

On a funny note, my wife was out walking on the road and started noticing empty pop cans flying around and several had blown onto our place. So, she came to the house and got a bag and filled it. I told her she could keep the money. After all, I had not given her the weekly allowance yet. Now should I still give her the allowance or is the can return money enough?

I hate that being without power. But to think everyone lived that way until the last century. Glad you are well prepared. Running in for gas isn't so bad. I would never store any amount of it because it is so unstable. Thinking of an LP generator. We have LP for the furnace etc. I have a small generator that will run most of our needs.
Big wind and snow flurries came rushing through this morning. Now the sun is out.

Larry I've not had any problems storing gas so long as it has Stabilizer in it. However, when we get a new generator (with electric start) I may think about getting a hybrid so it will run on either gas or LP.

You can convert several models to LP. I bought a kit for my Yamaha inverter model but haven't installed it yet.
