I was looking at that rear end going man those are low gears too. But heck all my truck experience and stuff is off 20+ year old 4WD stuff. Who knows with the massive amounts of gears in trannys these days there probably totally different than in trucks I'm thinking about them in.

Was thinking that's great mileage for a truck with 3.90 gears.

Sounds like you got in just in time didn't I hear concrete saying that they dropped it to like 3 year 70k miles or something?

The 3.55 is definitely better for pulling the max payload. But for I what pull with it? They are just fine. Plus the 3.92's are what gets you the max mileage with no trailer load.

After our trip to Cedar point yesterday, I am up to 28.3 MPG average... And this truck will get out of its own way in a hurry!!

So the truck with lower gears (numerically higher) gets better gas mileage?? Must be some tranny tricks there?

Edit : I said that wrong, it's correct now.

Yeah, that doesn't sound right...normally the numerically higher (4.10:1) gears are load haulers and the numerically lower (3.55:1) gears are the mileage makers
There are some rare exceptions where a certain higher gear puts the engine in the fat part of its torque curve more often...but with the flat and wide torque curve this ECO diesel supposedly has, I would not expect that to be the case here.

Thanks to this thread I have already checked out a couple and even made Mrs. Coach drive it. She actually liked liked it!!!! Come to find out, there is an option to have a bench seat in front so that I can fit my family of four and two extra friends. I think it is between a Jeep Wrangler unlimited and the Ecodiesel for me. However, I have the 98 Dodge 2500 Cummins for getting wood :)

You can get a brand new $50,000 truck for $36,000?

As for the added cost of a diesel. $3000? What size (Liter) is this engine? Is it the same as a bigger work diesel? Like a Cummins, what are the new ones? 6.7L? I know the added cost of those are not $3,000.

Can you get a new, $50,000 Chevy or GMC with a Duramax and Allison for $36,000?

Ahhhh. I looked it up. I don't know how I forgot. C.R.S. It's a 3.0 L V-6 diesel engine. That is why it is $3000 upgrade. My bad.

I did F that up.. Had my numbers backwards.

Haven't dealt with ratios in awhile and was going off of a Jeep/Diesel forum post. City driving with the 3.55 is supposedly better.

Regardless of ratio, at over 28 MPG? I'm happy!! And it tows an 18 ft tandem with a couple quads/UTV's like a boss!
We only stayed for a little over 3 hours. It was wet and miserable. Looks like it cleaned up later, but after we got wet and cold? We were out!!

I would've gladly let you drive it. That's what we took up there!

If they can't make enough of them now, will parts be available in the future?
