Thanks! Your all going to have to wait just a bit before you get pics... I'm busy till Tuesday, then get paperwork done and ship them a set of running boards to install late in week. Will fly in following week mon/tues to pick up and drive home. Will have a nice 7-800 mile trip on it to get a good "highway" mileage average.

Sounds like a plan, me like WOOD fired anything!! I'll have to start a new 30 page thread one what I should stop and see in KY area! ;) What should I title that one to get a good brawl going and 30 pages, "KY or OH?" :D

At least you found a truck like you want. I hope you get many years of good service out of it.

I've been trolling the F150 forums all summer. I've heard of several stories like this, where a check engine light leaves someone stranded. Normally it's not a massive fix like an engine failure, it's just a control module or something that needs replaced.

I'm worried this is just a sign of things to come, right now the F150 is the most technologically advanced truck on the road. Every year more and more stuff is controlled by circuits instead of cables. And sadly, we haven't reached an age yet where computers are always reliable for 10+ years.

Everyone loves to hate on the Ridgeline, but for most "truck" owners, it would serve them perfectly. Heck, most of the heavy duty truck owners I know just use them as their daily drivers and never tow and rarely have anything heavier than a quad in the bed. I've said it before, if they weren't so ugly I have no doubts that the Ridgeline would work fine for me for firewood duty and pulling the occasional trailer. Most guys ego's just won't let them admit they don't REALLY need something capable of towing 11,000 pounds just to drive to work.

Really, the Ridgeline isn't that much different than the old Jeep Cherokee's. Nobody questions them as SUV's, but in reality they were the first crossovers as they were a unibody construction just like the Ridgeline and Pilot.

If we really want to split hairs, a Ridgeline is NOT a truck, a 150, 1500 series is NOT a truck, although better than a Ridgeline.

So a half ton is not a truck?

Oh, I agree 100%, and that includes me! As I posted some 30 something pages back when I started this "mess", ;) I really don't need the power to two anything, and rarely have that much stuff in my bed other than boat anchors, tool boxes, fishing gear.... and once or twice a year a load of wood I scrounged. I certainly could get the job done with an El Camino or Ridgeline for sure, maybe have to make 2 trips for the wood, big deal.

But when you see the Ridgeline as I did parked in-between a row of 2500HD's, 3500's and a few 1500's, it sure did look like a Mini! ;)

So what is the definition of a truck? How much payload and towing capacity?

I currently drive an F-350 dually, power stroke, with a 9' dump bed. I definitely agree that is beginning to be a "truck" when work is involved. I'm selling it, along with my landscape business. I will be purchasing an F-150 with the little baby 2.7 ecoboost. I don't consider it a "non truck", even compared to what I have now. Will it do the same work?, No. A truck is made to carry a load in the bed. Some guys may haul five 2x4's per year and think it's worth having a truck. I don't think the size is the variable. What makes it practical for each person, is its intended use. I'm getting my realtor license. Could you imagine me driving a dump truck to a house showing that gets 10 mpg? With a smaller truck I gain 5 passenger seating, a more "formal" look, fuel economy, cheaper maintenance and so on. That same little truck will still haul my dump trailer, items in the bed, the family on a night out. To me a truck has the ability to haul what you need. After driving a larger truck around the last 11 years I fully understand the cost involved. Unless you plan to work that truck, it's absolutely a waste. I tow an 8.5'x20' enclosed trailer every day, a hydro seeder that weighs 15,000 pounds loaded, I haul mulch, dirt and gravel all the time. When those needs subside, or go away, so does the need for that truck. To me it sounds like a half ton truck is way more than adequate for the original posters needs, and mine. A truck, is a truck, no matter what the size. Fill your needs and don't worry if you're bigger than the truck next to you on the road.

The 2nd Gen Cummins is a great engine, but the little EcoDiesel puts up better number (or equal) for the first several years.
(240 HP 420 Ft lbs for the Ecodiesel)

Granted those numbers can be improved on greatly, but getting the mileage out of the new half ton and still having impressive torque numbers is what drew me to the newer Ram.

I'm impressed every time I drive it!

I think he means something like this is a "REAL TRUCK":

Because a Dodge 1-ton with a Cummins has a lot more in common with a Subaru Brat than it does with a real truck like this.
