Does the Ranger have the 2.3 liter? I've seen a lot of high mileage Rangers with the 4 banger, those were great engines from what I've heard (both the old OHV and the overhead cam vesion).

I've owned 3 different Rangers, and 88, and two 98's. All had the V6 and were great trucks until around 150k miles when they started costing me $200 in parts and a few hours of my time every month and I normally got rid of them right before they hit 200k.

Yeah, don't compare a classic like that to the ugliness that is the new Ridgeline!!! I think it has more of a Subaru Baja look

I'd look at one if the new one wasn't so ugly. Honda makes a great car, and my BIL's used his Ridgeline for the past several years to haul wood to heat his home. It pulls a 7x16' tandem axle trailer loaded with wood regularly. Now days I just need a truck to haul firewood, the dogs and kids, the occasional lumber trip to the hardware store and short drives to the river bottoms at my parent's farm. The Ridgeline is more than up to tasks like that.

Yup. Honda Makes great, reliable stuff. My wife has a Pilot. We like it. And I use to run a CRV for a commuting vehicle when I drove 44 miles one way to work 5 days a week for seven years. :picard:Glad that's over with.

One of the things we love about the Pilot and past CRV is nothing has to be done about 4WD selection. Great for road driving in all conditions. It stays in front wheel drive and when any slippage is detected it sends power to rear wheels. You don't even feel it.

Wife is thinking of a used Ridgeline for her next vehicle. Good for moving light horse "stuff" around.

My wife has a CRV, the 4WD is seamless. I hate driving it because there's no power, but it's been a very reliable car. I've even had it off-road once to a bonfire, it did several muddy creek crossings and a couple mild but sloppy hills fine. Everyone there's jaw dropped when they saw me pull up in that quiet Honda! I think the guys that had jacked up F250's and Silverado 1500's with mud tires were a little embarrassed because in their minds they had gone through some serious trails to get back there, and then here comes this stock CRV with street tires!

I don't see why you hate on the Ridgeline so much. Just order a heavy duty one bro!

Honduh got in trouble for their fake CR-V AWD systems.
    They supposedly fixed them 2015+.
Honduh has had its problems over the past few years and don't seem to be the company once thought.

The one I had was a 2006 and it never failed me in the snow, mud, or other slippery surface. I was very impressed with its ability.

That's funny. Because there's holes in the Chevy too from that abuse. Also funny is that gm is going alloy by 2020.

The tundra and titan are probably more American than Ford or GM.

We had 3 different bronco2's and a ii ranger, all with the 2.8 or 2.9 cologne v6. Two made it to 400,000 miles, the ranger we sold at like 220k, and the oldest one, an 84 broncoII had the carbed 2.8 v6 and it lasted over 200 k.

All 4 cylinder rangers were ohc. The 4.0 v6 were either ohv, then sohc later. Even the old Vulcan 3.0 v6 that was available was a great motor in the ranger.

I hated the 3.0 I had. Mine was a 98 extended cab 4x4 manual and I replaced it with an identical 98 with the 4.0 OHV, which got better mpg's and of course had more power. The Vulcan might have done better in a lighter single cab truck, but it was a turd in mine.

My wife's was a 3rd gen and has always performed well as far as AWD. Must have been an issue with the 4th gens. I do agree that Honda, and also Toyota, aren't what they used to be. But I don't think they've fallen so much that the Big 3 has surpassed them yet in quality.
