The rim size doesn't matter, it's the outside diameter of the tire. Now, when the sidewall of the tire is so narrow that a pothole will bend a room, that's an issue.

It's a trade-off, handling and looks vs damage prevention and sidewall flex for off roading.

Your correct rim size don't matter except that usually on trucks as long as they don't have those stupid low profile tires generally the larger rim has a bit larger total diameter tire. Can be exceptions but I would think that a new chevy with 20" rims would have a larger diameter tire on it than its 20 year old cousin wearing 265 75 r16 tires. Could be wrong but it's my gut.

want an all around good vehicle, pick up an early 3rd generation, 03 04 not 4,5 dodge cummins, 20mpg, will tow/haul anything you have, plow push pull.
    13,000 save 30,000.
personally I would say get a second gen but they have a few quirks that the 3rd gens fixed. I sold my 3rd gen and went back to a 2nd gen I just like them better

He won't get 50% more power on a 6.0 without bullet proofing the heads and adding head studs. Timing will help mileage but wont pass emissions. You can get great mileage on the highway with high timing but with that you get higher cylinder pressures which is hard on head gaskets.

2500 is a whole different chassis. Solid front axle in them.

I've not seen any of them with independent but I don't pay that much attention to the 2500. The 14 and up have coil rear suspension on some models
