Fiat and other Euro's have been making GREAT little diesel damsels for many many many many years! They just didn't bring them over here cause of our regulations and diesels were not popular in the US. I travel to Germany all the time, and a huge % of the cars are diesel over there, like 50% if not more. So fact the Ecodiesel is by Fiat, is a good thing. Like I said, it's Italian, FUGGETTABOUTIT!!

Not on the Certified Pro-owned ones I've been looking at. I can't say for the new ones, but the Cert Preowned have a 7 year/100k from date of "put in service".

Read the WHOLE thread, and then read the other 20 complaining about that thread..... That thread actually has about 4 guys with problems with 2014's, 3 of them were fixed right up and on there way. 1 guy has been waiting 9 months to get his truck fixed. Yea right? You believe that? If so, I have a few bridges to sell you. And if it were true, the guy is an idiot, there are 100 ways to solve that issue with the dealership and/or Dodge. They would NOT leave the guy in that situation unless the story is much different than what he is telling.

And PS, I can post HORROR stories about how "great" Ford treats people. Hell, I can post my OWN story with Ford!

Reading forums, you have to read between the lines, and look at trends, not individual incidents. Much like reading restaurant reviews, 10 people say the "The service sucks", 10 people say "The service was the best they have ever had", 10 people don't even mention the service.... So what does that tell you? Nothing. It says some people are picky and didn't like one particular girl who has worked in the place for 3 days, and has nothing to do with the quality of the restaurant, and 10 other people got the good happy waitress... I read what the other 10 have to say abou the food and prices. ;)

The trends on the Ram forums and truck forums, looks to be the Ecodiesel is a great motor that gets great milage and will likely get very high mileage because it is underworked. The other trend is, Ram is chipping away bigtime at Ford sales right now. I see that in my area every day, the 1500's are all over the place. I used to see nothing but Fords. Now I think I see 2 Rams to every Ford.

And by the way, I will buy a Platinum if I find a decent one priced right. Or a 1500 Longhorn or Limited if it's priced right.

Chit Kenis...If you had my money you would still be driving that sweet F150 of yours!! Now if I had your money, I would burn mine!

Truck should be fixed sometime this week. $4200 in damage to mine and the 2015 RAV 4 was totaled, must have twisted the frame, because it did not look that bad. I think the front end parts on my Ford are made out of Aluminum Foil the way they folded!

    Just thinking out loud here,
if Powerchokes and Duramaxipads are so great
how come when they blow up
    they replace them with
    CUMMINS???????????

Why is it when you go to Ford 450 or larger you get a CUMMINS??????

Your own link shows a high number of 20+ mpg trucks with the 2.7. Looking at the graph almost half get 20 mph or better; that's pretty darn impressive for a gas truck of any size.

    upload_2016-8-29_8-57-12.png

And "On the forums it seems the Eco has the power of a six banger with the fuel economy of a v8."?

A ton of Ford guys will say to skip the 3.5 and 5.0 and get the 2.7 because it does the exact opposite of what you say. I've driven the 2.7 eco and GM's 5.3 back to back. There's no comparison, the ecoboost has more power. GM says it's got more, but an independent dyno test says otherwise. The ecoboost is red, the 5.3 ecotec is green. I picked the 5.3 to compare because most car guys will agree GM makes the best V8 around, and they have for a long time.

Also, everyone is going to 8 and 10 speed transmissions. GM is putting 8-speeds in many of their trucks, and that 10-speed in the 2017 F150s was a joint development between GM and Ford. There's reports GM will move to aluminum for the next generation 1500 as well, the EPA's rules are leaving truck manufacturer with no choice but to find lighter materials.

Yep. And when I see folks over there quote their diesel prices they are a good bit cheaper than gas. So it makes sense. I wish we had more diesel over here though.

I guess I'm gonna have to buy one of these turbine-engined trucks and run it for 10 years to see if the claims are real or BS. :p I'd be interested to see that dyno chart and the shop tickets ten years down the road too. Who knows? Maybe I'll be surprised. It won't take many trips to the shop at all to eat any fuel savings and the harder the truck works, the less advantage either Eco engine has against a comparable V8 gasser. If these little engines really could out-economize/out-last/out-perform a V8, I think we would see a lot more of them in 3/4 ton chassis.

For the moment, these are "commuter" trucks that can work the weekends too. And there is plenty of room in today's truck market for that. Heck, that's exactly how I run my Chevy. And if you can afford a new(ish) pickup as your daily driver, the fuel bill likely ain't bothering you much.

On a tractor forum I'm on there is a guy who has an EB and had one since they came out as does his dad. I think he puts about 20k a year on it. No trouble I have read and says he gets 19 towing. He has a trailer and boat shop on the side or something and tows pretty substantial loads, not just like a 5x10 with an ATV.

Only EB I have read about is the moisture in the intercooler and people drilling a hole in them to let the condensation out. This can cause skipping or rough running if you have all that water in there.

One thing I have noticed is that EB's always have a very dark sooty tail pipe where a GM is usually clean and just the color of the pipe metal? My 1500 dodge v6 has a sooty pipe too and only has 3k miles.
