RCBS sorry to hear about Timber, sounds like she was a great member of the family unit. My heart goes out to you.

So sorry for your loss. Even when we think we have prepared for it, so it should be easier, we haven't - and it isn't. You gave Timber a great life and are kind in making the final moments more comfortable. God bless.

Hard to give a like to this.
RCBS , YouY have gone far above your duty. You have given Timber all the love one could, and there is a special place in heaven for you! Do not be surprised on if you have to wait a bit before you go home from the vets. If possible, see if you can find an understanding friend to go with you.
Sorrt if this is garblred, I have trouble typing, surgery on dominant arm.
    Take care, my friend!

RCBS you know you are doing the right thing for Timber. You have it in control not to let her suffer the insult of pain and sickness to the bitter end. Rest in peace dear Timber

RCBS I know the pain and sorrow you are going thru now. It is never easy to say goodbye to a good friend and member of your family. We had to put our Melody down a few weeks ago for the same reason, cancer in the mouth. It became harder for her to eat and grooming stopped and even drinking liquid became difficult. Even though it is the right decision, that doesn't make it any easier.

Thank you all once again for the kind words. Timber is in her final resting place. I did my best to make sure she arrived there with love, comfort and respect. She seemed to be at peace during the procedure and I thanked the vets profusely. It may be a little rough for a bit, getting used to not having my furry friend always around. She will be greatly missed but never forgotten.

RCBS, God Bless you. You saved her little kitty life 17 years ago, and kept her happy and loved all these years. Wait a bit, and find another one to save.
I've saved many kitties over the years--kept some and found good homes for others.
The ones that "just came up to me" were always the best kitties.

Here is my latest rescue. Found her in a laundromat at the height of a drought, trying to get a drink out of the laundromat gutter that the washers discharged into. She had bad ear mites and kitty herpes in her throat. I got the ear mites fixed and found a solution for the cat herpes.
Sometimes she sleeps on my head at night.

No kitty could ask for more than you gave her.

    Blessings.

Her absence is now making me realize just how much she gave to me all these years. Its been hard this morning. No waiting in the hallway to greet me when I arose. No begging for milk in the kitchen. No waiting impatiently for breakfast. An empty space beside me where my companion used to be.

There are no words for this pain.
Grief is walking an unknown shore.
Feel it and let it be what it will be.

In time, you will know when, another will
fill those paw prints, and the cycle will begin again.

    The sun will rise tomorrow.
You never know what the tide will bring.

It was a bit unsettling how empty the house felt the day after. You are not alone.

Wow. You aren't kidding. Was finishing up gathering all of Timbers parafinalia this morning. Caught myself glancing at her usual spots half expecting to see her. :tears: I have a buddy with a couple shop cats, so going to see if he wants any of it and give him some leftover food and litter that I don't need.

I still see a shadow in the chair where Buddy used to sleep, when I pass through the darkened room. I like to think it is her spirt here to comfort me:):tip:

I could have sworn that I had cleaned her litter and she did not use it before we went to the vet, but there was evidence of recent urine. Half freaked for a moment, then realized she must have used just prior to leaving. How stupid does it sound to say that I already miss dealing with litter?

I have figured out that is a big part of this for me. I had gotten used to her (especially once she got sick) needing me to care for her.

The day we had to put Melody down, we gathered all of her cat beds, crate, food, litter box and whatever else we could find and after cleaning it up we brought it to the animal shelter where we know it will be put to good use.
