Dumf declares that on demand propane is the only way to go. How could you do anything different?

I'll hafta go look...I think it's 2 legs at 30 amp (240v) but it only pulls like 3 amps when on heat pump only mode...which is what I have mine set on...haven't even tried hybrid mode. (combo of HP and electric elements)

I do declare that there is no "on demand propane". You gotta pay for it. Unless Ms. Warner is in another dimension. :hair:

When you have less hot water, is it at all faucets in the house, or just one, like the shower?

We had an issue with inconsistent shower temps, after a new propane heater was installed. The issue turned out to be some fine sand/grit had collected in the screen filter, just before the showerhead. Once removed, all was good.

Apparently the lower flow rate was affecting the Moen shower valve. Go figure.

Well here. No filters in system.

No, its been around the house... taking a shower with lukewarm water (no cold turned on) and even the kitchen faucet trying to do dishes... Then there was times you could see the steam from it... But I did what Horkn suggested... tweaked the heat up just a smidge bit... and seems to be more consistant now.

Glad to hear it's working better.

You might still want to drain off some water and sediment, though.

Good! It's possible that the thermostat/ temp adjustment is just touchy or gunkrd up.

Always a good idea. When it's empty, pour in a gallon of white vinegar and let that soak a few hours. then drain it again. The vinegar will dissolve any calcium deposits

How would you add vinegar to the hot water heater?

Either the water in pipe, or in the pressure valve. I usually unscrew the pressure valve and add it that way. On an electric water heater, you can add it via the element hole(s).

As the sole advocate of gas tankless/on demand water heaters online here, a vinegar flush cleans out the copper coils for calcium.
It's a simple once a year ( for almost 20 years ) maintenance on this Rinnai unit. Reliable, dependable, unlimited hot water.
